Thats zero fiberglass or carbon fiber work also. And with a coyote it would be 420 horsepower in a pretty light car. Main reason i want to build this one instead of sell it for a newer car.
The wife is actually all about not having a car payment at all when we get our current ones paid off or if we do, just have one for a nice economical vehicle. I'm still trying to convince her that the 2014 auto V6 pony package car that her aunt just bought and will be selling in 2 years would be perfect. My wife's aunt is one of those ppl who is OCD about having a new car and her and her husband are nazis about maintenance too. It would basically be new with 20-30k on it in 2 years from now. Looks good, is optioned out, gets 30mpg, has a back seat for our kid, I mean cmon what's not to love?

Yes the Coyote weighs in around 50 or 60 lbs less than the 2V IIRC. Tubular K member, power steering delete, rear seat delete, lightweight front seats, delete airbags, AL driveshaft and all the other normal weight savings mods and you've got a 3100-3200lb car and with a modded Coyote putting out 425-450 to the wheels...

There is also the super cheap LSx swap

Scotty you legitimately have me looking into a Coyote swap now. Since it may look more expensive up front i would probably end up spending less in the long run for it to make power. I spent yesterday making a list of everything needed.

Lol your going to make me spend a lot of money.

You just have to price out what is most cost effective. Which would be an LSX swap honestly lol. You actually can build a pretty stout 2V for $4500-$5500 longblock out the door but that's before a power adder or anything.

Main thing is. I need high revving and I need aluminum block. Actual numbers aren't my main concern. The car needs to be better balanced.

Yeah. I'll be putting probably 20% in savings, 20% checking, and 60% towards loans.

Also sucks the time frame I have. Since I live on campus at school I have nowhere to do anything (plus I've never done any type of motor swap before so I need help. It'll have to be during summer, so that basically gives me about 10 months to save up.

I just want suspension right now. Namely the FRPP Handling Package.

Nice. At some point, I want to tint all my lights as well, but that's whenever. Later on I'll focus on a Cobra Jet setup, being able to have the engine rev to 8K, and the Boss 302 Gauge cluster.

This is everything I'd eventually want done. Some of the stuff under power, like the tensioners and springs, I've heard you need to go to an 8K redline, not sure what else is needed for that.

I can imagine trying to shift at 8100... I suppose that's what automatics are for. What do the Coyotes need for that just a Boss intake and a tune or do they need moar like the TiVCT disabled and the cam phasers locked out?

I'd like to know this as well. As stated above, I eventually want an 8K redline, like the Boss.

I still have the ti-vct right now.

All you need is a boss or cobra jet intake, billet oil gears and I recommend valve springs.

Also a good tuner that knows how to play with cam timing. There is alot of built in limiters that need to be overcome.

I shift about 8000 now. Limiter is at 8100.
I want to try and set it at 8500 here soon, with the cams. But I doubt the stock pcm probably will not support it. We already switched to the boss pcm software for the extra spark tables etc

The stock PCM will get signal degredation at 8100 rpm. The Boss PCM flash, your fine.

I've heard that head work is needed after 7.5K rpm's.

No timing chain tensioners either? Dang. The guys I talked to said the factory coyote tensioners get unstable above factory redline.

Sorry jonathanadams22 about the huge thread jack lol. Figured to ask questions in here since they still pertain to engine swap stuff.

Ok so just looking over all the parts that may be needed. I watched LMR's videos on their swap, looks like they were able to use stock K member (SLA conversion is in the future, so i don't want to buy 2 tubular K members). The one thing i'm trying to figure out that can either cost a lot or save a lot of money is the exhaust. The only "Coyote swap" exhaust parts i can find are LT headers and X pipe. Thats like $1k right there. I was thinking if i used a set of stock coyote manifolds, and got my current full length O/R H pipe modified to fit with those.

Another thing is an alternator kit and flywheel/clutch..... That'll most likely depend on how dressed said engine is.

Here are links to the parts in said questions, what do you guys think the exhaust will entail? (As much as i would like the LTs, i need to keep the budget down to ensure i can actually afford the entire swap up front).

BBK Coyote 5.0L Mustang Swap Off Road Shorty X-Pipe 1787 (79-04 All w/ Long Tube Headers) - Free Shipping
BBK Ceramic Coyote 5.0L Mustang Swap Long Tube Headers 16340 (79-04 All) - Free Shipping
Ford Racing Cast Iron Mustang Manifolds M-9430-SR50 (11-14 GT) - Free Shipping
M-8600-M50B - LatemodelRestoration.com Search

I've heard the TR3650 bolts right up.

I'm facebook friends with 2 people who have done Coyote swaps in New Edges so i'll try to pick their brains for more info (TJ and Calvin if you guys know who they are)
