Tuner

Just bought the sct sx4 tuner for my 02 gt. Can't wait to get it. Already have some good bolt ons. Hoping this will satisfy me untill i buy 410 gears... has anybody else bought this tuner? Are you happy with it?

The SCT tuners themselves are great. I have not used the X4 but I hear its great although a used X3 is still very serviceable. The bigger factor will be the tune you loaded with it.

I had them do 3 different tunes. All for 93 octane. I never run anything other than 93 in my car. It's not my daily driver. I will obviously try it on the "race tune" first lol.

What's makes you say that. They could get worse lol.

Although Bama/AM does have excellent customer service so that's going for them.

A lot of drama played out with mike their former head tuner..not sure if you caught that thread while it was up. But hopefully their tunes start getting better

What happened? You don't have to be so detailed that this get taken down.. But was it due to lack if performance?

Actually I didn't really see why he left but after he did there was something about him taking tune files and passing them off as his own.

Well... wish I would have seen the original thread about mike... The money is already spent though. I'll let you know my thoughts when my tuner shows up and I install a new tune.

So I received .You tuner this past monday. I am very happy with it. My tires can't handle the 93 race tune. If I punch it in 2nd gear at 30 or so mph my car just starts spinning the tires. Once it hooks it goes. I wanted to do cams next but have since changed my mind. I need staggered wheels and tubular suspension with sub frame connectors and strut tower brace. Then new rear differential gears. Then cams. Hopefully I can do the suspension while the car sits in my garage for winter.

Give the guys over at Bama a try! They have a new lead calibrator who is doing an amazing job and has revamped all of their tunes. They've sent them out to people to test against competitors and so far the results have been great!

OP, how about this... shoot me over an email to chris[dot]rose[at]americanmuscle[dot]com and I'll get you set up with Bama and they'll get you tunes for free. All you have to do is come back into this thread and give an honest review! Let me know if you're interested?

Chris

Lol, give me a free tuner and some of the new bama tunes for free and I'll write all the reviews you want across a dozen forums provided the tune doesn't suck. I know its not as good as a local dyno but for a bolt on car, if the new guy is a legit tuner, would probably be fine.

The new dude tuning is capable of tuning PI swapped cars right?

Just asking what is the difference between tuning PI Swaps vs 99 to 04 or NPI?

A/F ratio?, Compression?

The fact that their tunes are canned probably means they can't do it. I know Steeda can't unless they dyno tune it. MPT can tune for them tho.

I was really thinking about buying a tuner, so i have to ask, i have a 98 with PI heads and intake in your opinion is this worth me buying it? Every thing I've read claim 15 to 25 HP gains with a tune but if it comes with detonation or pinging who needs that. I do have Pink 21 lb/hr injectors i would like to use and will need a tuner to do so

If the tune is right, you will have no issues. With that said, the canned tuners won't work for swapped cars. You'll have to go with MPT or one like him (which you should be anyway) that will actually burn you a datalog tune vs just send you a canned one. I already contacted MPT and they do tune PI swapped cars.

Thanks for the info, however can you explain why they don't work or are no good, what doesn't do or include.

Do you know what problems will occur or do you just not get the performance you would expect
