3.8-5.4 swap..need a little info

Ok..so a while back I was talkin a little bit about the gt swap I WAS gonna do, but..that got ruined. Stupid mistake I made on my part. Got the motor, bought the accessories and pretty much everything I needed for the swap..then I painted the block. Took the oil pan off and what do ya know..the best present ever..a shattered rod laying in the oil pan and 2 other rods bent. Probably should have been the first thing i looked at. So I ran across a 2001 5.4 2v that I'm going to get for free. It's a complete motor but I'm wondering if the injector wiring harness would match the GT ecu harness. It's coming out of a expedition. And also what size clutch would I need for the 8-bolt flywheel.

Few threads about this lately. Apparently if the 5.4 isn't 4v its a waste of time.

It can be changed to a 4v. But this is my starting point. I think it's a great use of time if you just love cars period. I love building on something that has so much potential. It's something valuable to me so all I would like is 2 answers to 2 questions. That's all.

I don't personally know but I googled 5.4 swap wiring harness and this popped up: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-foru...4-swap.855408/

Just read through it a bit and a guy posts up asking about the wiring harnesses for a 2V. As far as the flywheel I would use whatever the mustang 8 bolt clutch is

Apparently a 5.4L 2V is a 99% drop in if the car was a 4.6l 2V. I have not done the swap but I've read enough threads on it when I was looking at doing one myself with TFS heads. Convert your v6 just like you were doing a 4.6L and then its apparently a few exhaust mods and the 4.6L computer runs the 5.4 ok.

Personally I'd just sell your V6 and buy a GT and mod that if its feasible.

Just because I give you advice, doesn't mean I know more than you. Its just means I've done more stupid ****.

Guys*. I can't just go off and buy a gt though. Selling the v6 is also out of the question. Too sentimental to me and I will never get rid of it. I'm sure y'all know what I'm talkin about if your stang is truly your baby haha

I read the thread JDF, but as far as I can gather, the harness is the same if going from 2v to 2v...just not sure about the year model though. I may have to get a couple of schematics unless someone here knows. 2002 ecu wiring harness; 2001 5.4 injector wiring harness

As long as it's not from a 3V f 150 I'm sure the harness will be the same
