abs control module

Is there a difference between an ABS Control Module and the Electronic Brake Control Module? I had my car at a shop and they said that the reason my ABS light was staying on was because the EBCM was bad, but they couldn't find one to replace it. Anybody have any experience with this? I've seen a couple repair services online, but I'm a little nervous to send parts in to someplace I've never heard of.

abs control module

The repair services dont always work my ex boss use to send the ebcm's in to a repair service and they come back throwing more codes then when it went out lol, needless to say he stopped doing it and would find a good used one on ebay or craigslist

You need to have the code pulled. Chances are it's a wheel sensor that has a lot of metallic "fuzz" on it or a broken wire to one of them. Get the code and go from there.
Don't just replace parts without a diagnosis.

I was told that my abs unit was bad by three different shops. Each one tried to pull codes and said that the abs unit would not connect to their test machine and "talk" to it. If I can't get codes pulled off it must be the bad module that is bad but ford doesn't make them any more. So I guess I will just not have anti lock brakes any more.

Yes u can, look to ur closest salvage yards they will have one from a mustang that will work im sure, call around i would not just let it go and not have abs, here where i live we have yearly state inspections and if your red brake light is coming on with the yellow abs one ( which sometimes they do) it will fail inspection

If they can't pull the codes, assuming it's not a wiring problem or a fuse, then I would say the module is toast. Like thyreaper suggested, try the salvage yards.
