Confused on my next step

My mustang gt has a 94 body and rear end, and newer everything else.. It used to have a 5.0l with auto trans., it's now got a 4.6l with a 5 speed, it has accel coil packs and complete aftermarket intake, and has the sct 3015 flash device.. When at idle it has a slight studder, when driving it has a studder, then you feel the power change and can even hear it change, and level out and run kick ***, I'm noticing that it seems to do best at mid to higher rpm... Any suggestions on any tuning with sct, and or possible mechanical help in which will straighten out my rpms and have no more studder, and be kick *** all the time.. ThanksClick image for larger version

Okey dokey I'll try those things.. I think it needs hotter plugs in it too.. I was told that it has engine specific from factory plugs in it.. With the coil packs I believe it will do better with hotter..

I would first thing get rid of those ACCEL COP's, and go with OEM. Those ACCEL COP's suck ***. Not worth the many of pennies that they ask for. Can not go wrong with OEM COP's. That there may help your lowend response all together. And stay with Motorcraft platinums that are OEM, or NGK's. Anything else and you are wasting money. You are not running boost, or anything other than a couple bolt ons, so the oem plugs and cop's will work just fine for you. No need to think you haveor need a hotter plug.

I'm going to go with NGK's anyways, but I was just going by what previous owner was telling me.. Which was hotter plug cause of the COP's that are in it.. and I believe tho could be confused on other engines, but I believe the 4.6l calls for platinum plugs anyways..

Would injector upgrades helpe out any? I know more about the carb. old school stuff than I do these.. I know what they do and why they are there, but would more squirt flood it out? It just acts like it's not getting enough on lower ends of rpm's through the gears.. for example:; 5th gear kicks in and kicks *** at around 85mph..

Yes, platinum plugs are OEM. I always stay with Motorcraft and always get them from Ford parts dept. As you do not have to make a decision on the spot of a thousand different plugs available at a parts store and they are equally priced as at a parts store and Ford rep just goes and gets the OEM plugs. Secondly, if you have no intention on going with turbo or supercharger route on a engine build, then stay with the OEM injectors. Plenty of fuel will be delivered with what you got. Third, once again, get the Accel COP's out of there. PPL have a tendency to think that just because a name like Accel on a COP will make for better spark or power. That is a falsehood, and anyone will tell you that OEM COP's are by far superior to any aftermarket one like case in point Accel. Those Accels as I mentioned before may be the one part that is limiting you to achieve max power at low end as you are experiencing with what you wrote. That is in my mind the first thing you should do, and see where you are after that. You may find all issues are resolved at the lower end RPM range power. Beleive me when I say go with OEM. The old saying goes "You can put make-up on a pig, but in the end it is still a pig". So do not get fooled with those name brand parts like Accel, they are not application specific and are junk.

Done ranting on the Accel COP's, it is up to you on what you do next.

Ya I'll change the COP's, right now everything that's on my 4.6, came to me that way.. So I'm not out anything if I get rid of the accels, I'm going to also put a new fuel filter on it, probly tomorrow, it's a new and free filter, so I can't say no to it.. Lol I'm also going to do a lot of cleaning, and when I get a little more cash flow, I'll change out the COP's, and put new plugs in it.. Thanks for all your help man..

Factory coil on plugs are best ..
Accel are junk

Ford plugs can be found at any auto parts store.
