Buying 95 5.0 vs 01 4.6

Which would be better to buy? The 5.0 only has 88k miles and the 4.6 has 150k+. Is there a significant difference between the two engines? Thanks in advance.

I would look for another 99-04 with lower miles over the 150k, if you get the fox body plan on a LS swap

One is a pushrod with no power

The other is a modular with potential

It's a lot easier to find an affordable 5.0 than it is a 4.6 though. Especially with lower miles

DD but I'd like a powerful & fast one at that. Would put new exhaust and bolt ons. Maybe build it up a little for street fights.

If you get the 5.0 just plan on doing heads/cams. On the 2v you could get away with just exhaust/ cams

Personally I would get the 4.6 over the 5.0. But if you can find a good deal on a 5.0 and have money left over to throw at mods then go that route.

Or you could just throw a supercharger at whichever one you buy.

And I agree with rap the 4.6 would be a better purchase over the 5.0 for the exhaust note alone.

Yea u heard it right a ls swap on mustang forums, i didnt say it but u cant deny the power the motors put out not to mention it really gives u alot more room in the engine bay, but all out seriousness a 96-98 with non pi motor u could do a pi swap and have the small bump in compression if your on a serious budget because the pi heads can be had for cheap or u could go to a ported head or even a trickflow or throw boost at it the stuff you can do with a mod motor is limitless depending on ur budget if you really after big power thats really to much for a dd street car u could do coyote with a blower or ls with a blower, both of those motors are just capable of insane numbers, either way the sn95 body is a good choice 👍

Buying 95 5.0 vs 01 4.6

The motor u choose depends on how much money u want spend. The 4.6 will cost u more but has a lot of potential. The 5.0 is a solid proven motor and parts are cheep. If u have the pocket book I'd go for the coyote swap instead! You'll be WAY happier and can get way more power out of it.

Your wrong... 95 was the last year of the 5.0. 96 started the 4.6.

Google can be your friend.

Yea and just the stock coyote is more power then u can usually get out of the 4.6 2v n.a but boost is just awsome for any of the motors

Um not quite. A 99+ GT is a decent bit faster than a 94-95 GT. I ran a full second faster than my buddy's 95 GT in the quarter and that is at altitude. but when it comes down to mods and bang for your buck I'd rather have the 95
