Tire size

Ok so I just ordered some fr500 (18x10 & 18x9) for my 04 DSG Gt and now I'm going to order tires I'm still debating about getting 315/30/18r or 305/35/18r on the rear any suggestions? And I was thinking 255/35/18r for the front?

305 for the rear will be perfect.
255 or a 265 for the front

That's up to you
A 305/30/18 is 25" tall
And a 305/35/18 is 26" tall

Tire size

Stock size is 25.6". Go with the 305/35, it's 26.4"

So you wouldn't recommend 315/30/18s?

Also going to want a 40 sidewall if you go with a 255 front. Hell, on my 98 I had a 235/45 up front and 275/40s out back. 26.3" tall up front and 26.6" tall out back. Filled up the wheel wells better and smoother ride too.

Remember, the sidewall measurement isn't static, it is a percentage. You need to look at overall tire diameter too and you want them to be pretty damn close. This is why you have to be so careful of the pre-packed wheel/tire combos out there. I've seen some pretty horrific tire size selections and one in particular on AM that just makes me #facepalm every time.

Just because I give you advice, doesn't mean I know more than you. Its just means I've done more stupid ****.
