Seat options

The seats in my 96 are shot. I've got my interior ripped out at the moment doing a little sound deadening and I decided to pull apart my seats to see if I could do a little temporary repair,. As I expected the foam is screwed. I'm planning on replacing or "rebuilding" them pretty soon.

My question is has anyone relieved their cushions and gone to aftermarket leather? Did I'd fit well and look factory? Where is the best deal?

Yes, I did and I did vinyl instead of leather. The TMI vinyl is actually nicer than the stock leather.

With that said, just get Corbeaus. Lighter, same price, way less asspain.

Pretty much everywhere i've seen they are $800 for the seat, then another $220 ($315 if you use aluminum side mounts) for the mounting brackets and side mounts.

Cobra Suzuka Pro-Fit. They also have the Imola Pro-Fit, same base just less in the leg bolster/side area where it kind of curves up at the end, Imolas follow more downward.

Most likely what i'll be getting, just gotta save up a little.

COBRA SEATS USA | Motorsport | Suzuka Pro-fit

They have more options for thicker cushioning available.

Yeah those are some damn nice seats... I was talking about the Corbeau LG2s or whatever for the OP but if you wanted to go all out...

Btw this is what a re-covered seat with TMI foam looks like.

Mine came out PERFECT but I've seen people go full on ****** with them and it looks terrible. I had never done anything related to upholstery ever before this but I read the directions like 20 times and took a long 4 day holiday weekend to do them.

Cost was $850-$900 all done for the foams, pliers, rings, spray glue and misc stuffs. $1k gets you some real nice Corbeaus with the dual track mounts. NEVER get them with the single track mounts.

I've always wondered why they took out the clock in the dash. Any ideas? I wish my 03 had a clock and temp gauge in it lol.

That looks amazing.

I did a little experimenting earlier. I pulled a seat from my old camaro just to see how much trouble it would be to play mix and match on seats/brackets. The camaro seats mate almost perfect. I would have no problem making these seats work.

I'll be hitting some junk yards soon to see what I can come up with. I ran across some really nice black leather seats in an import a few weeks ago. Maybe they're still there.

Because they transitioned to a setup that had the clock in the radio I imagine. Mine was a 98 which didn't come with one either, that interior is a full black interior swap from a 95 v6 parts car with new ACC carpet and TMI upholstery/foam.

If you can weld you can make damn near any seats work. I know Celica seats fit well, camarobird seats might too. Maybe see what sort of Subarus are in your local JY although I will say that anything good is often stripped/sold already by the JY or at least thats how it works around here.

What I'll do is, or at least ask if I can, bring in my bracket and pull a few seats and see what I can make work. I've ran across several nice seats before I just didnt realize how easy it would be to modify them to work.

The camaro seats are almost a direct swap. The only thing you would need to do is take a file to the mustang bracket to make the bolt holes just a hair bigger. This camaro seat was from an 88 and I'm pretty sure 82-02 are all the same.

I've ran across some nice celica seats as well so that's good to know.
