Water temp issues.

Ok so over the weekend i replaced my heater core. Not to bad of a job got it done in around 3 and a half hours doing it alone. So i started it heat came through jus as it should. Went for a drive the car got about half way to normal operation temp then lost all water temp back down to cold. What would be causing this? It did it again tonight had it fully warmed up started driving and then by time 10 mins was up my water temp was down to nothing

You may have something lodge in the thermostat...probably dislodged some gunk when you changed the heater core and now it's holding the thermostat open.

Yes, sitting still with the engine running you would see a rise in temp, even with the thermostat stuck open...once you start moving you have a large amount of air flowing thru the radiator and cooling down your coolant, especially if it's cold where you live

Also, make sure there are no air pockets in the cooling system. Sometimes parking the nose higher than the rear can aid in "burping" ther cooling system. After a few warmups and shutdowns, the air should remove itself, as the radiator will draw from the overflow tank if the air pocket pushes its way back to the radiator, assuming there are no leaks in the system.
