Found this in windshield washer pump

Wut...

Its blue. Its gooey. Its stringy...when i bought it over a year ago, i saw some blue residue in the reservoir. It seemed powdery. Now my nozzles seemed clogged. Blew.air thru the tubes, all good. Pulled the pump and saw that. Im baffled. Any biology majors here?

sucks that you gotta remove the wheel and the fenderwell just to get to it. especially when you run out of time and have to throw it all back together and wash the reservoir, and put it back in later.

This bio major has no clue what it is. My best guess is two chemicals were mixed and caused it to goop up like that. May be time to experiment with the different windshield washer fluids on the market and see if I cannot replicate what has happened here.

the stuff in there previously might have been some cheap value tablets or something. what likeley reacted with it was Peak brand bugwash, the knockoff of green rain-x.

Lol that's crazy. There must have been some type of fluid that reacted with another.

There was a product on the shelves for a few years that came in tablet form....you put water in your washer reservoir and then dropped in the tablet. It was to be a kind of magic windshield cleaner mixture, but it sounds like what you are experiencing is the result of this tablet mixture.

Looks like something may have caused the blue dye they put in commercial fluids to somehow precipitate and clog the unit. Incompatibility between different brands of washer fluid maybe?

That would be my best guess. The weird stringyness of it at first made me think it was some bacteria/mold colection, but it didn't stink, so im guessing possibly the rain x type solution mixing with the residue of the old blue stuff. Fluid was a dark green, the collection of gunk was that blue that you see.

Lol that'd be hilarious. It was leaking at the pump when i got it so it was bone dry. I used prestone bug wash (lol antifreeze brand) since then, then one day i thought i ran out. Added quarter of a gallon of green rain x type fluid, and it was full, which.is when i realized it was clogged.
