01 gt vs Mazda speed

So I have a friend at work who's been talking a lot of crap and I figured before it went anywhere I'd ask you guys, do you think I could outrun his Mazda speed 6? I have an 01 gt 5 speed with a few bolt ons, like steeda underdrive pulleys 24lb injectors, 75m throttle body, upgraded coil pack, and cold air intake. He has. A Mazda speed 6 6speed, and I don't think he's upgraded anything as far as I know.

If you can launch the car it will be a close race. From anything but a dig they will probably win.

I raced my friend who has a Mazda Speed 6 and we were neck and neck the entire time, and I've got 4.10s

I'm not sure what my gears are but it's really cold where I'm at and I have a hard time making a good launch as it is. Any recommendations on back tires for some grip?

Better tires and better suspension. If your gears are stock then they are 3.27.

What size wheels do you have?

10 inches wide 17inches tall, couldn't give you specifics atm. Do you recommend a specific suspension set up? It's been lowered about 1.5 inches too

For suspension you are going to want rear lower control arms and then either you can go with a set of upper control arms, or you can swap to a panhard bar and torque arm set up. That is more complicated and more expensive though.

As for tires, its not necessarily the size of the tire, but the compound it is made of. If you really want to be competitive get a set of drag radials, or even most R compound tires will work better than street tires, but they don't last as long.

Do you think the panhard and torque arm set up is worth it though? I mean I don't race it a lot, but I do take pride in my car and I do want to make it a lot more "beefy" in the long run so I'll have something to be proud of when I'm older ya know but at the same time money right now is somewhat tight but I'm just wanting to get some things to put on when it starts getting warm

I personally think it is. But i'm competitive with my car. I do have a panhard bar and torque arm on my car and love it. Car handles great, and with stickier tires it should launch well also.
