BBK Longtubes/x-pipe with Borla ATAKs?

Hey guys, ive been saving some money to buy a full new exhuast system from the headers to the tips. I was thinking of getting bbk longtube headers, an x pipe with cats, and then borla atak mufflers along with the tail pipes. Is this a good choice or should i go for something different i want more power along with it being alot louder? I have an 02 mustang GT.

Well you won't get as much power with that catted x pipe as you would an off-road x pipe but I assume your area checks emissions. And since your going to go with BBKs long tubes I'd suggest getting their ceramic coated ones and there shorty mid pipe for best fitment. With that set up Id say gain wise maybe 15-25 hp. Your best bet though after you get the exhaust is to get it tuned. It will help engine run more efficient which in turn picks up a bit more power.

Leo most people who have full bolt ons including exhaust and a Dyno tune are only picking up like 60-70 so 50 with out a tune is just unrealistic sorry to say

And also installing long tubes you loose some low end grunt(torque). That's why a lot of people will install a higher ratio gear in the rear like a 3.73 or 4.10 gear. Just food for thought

Yea thats what i was thinking to get the offroad x-pipe but yea in texas they are srict on emmisions but my dad has a guy that can pass my inspection for me no prob, so it would be better to get the off road x-pipe cool ima go with that then and also would you suggest getting a tuner or go and get it dyno-tuned?

Well a dyno tune is always going to be better then your mail order tune but a mail order tune will be fine for what your wanting. Many places are out there that do mail order tunes like Bama, MPT, Lund to name a few. But in Texas if your wanting to go Dyno tune route I'm sure there are plenty you just have to do your research. A tune will also turn your check engine light off because there are no cats.

I would say find out what tuner (Diablo, SCT) your local shops use!.. And then just get a mail order tuner for now!.. Then later down the road after you've got a few more mods go with the Dyno Tune!..

Yea i was planning on buying a higher gear ratio anyway but i didnt know you lose some torque from the headers i was thinking 4.10 but alot of people are telling me ill have no traction and to go with the 3.73 so im kinda up in the air right now and yea i have been doing some research i was planning on going to Phoenix becuase where i live there is no legit people to dyno-tune my car and oh okay i didnt know that it took away the light thanks for the info!

No worries and it only really takes away torque down low. Not sure for certain but I believe its 1500 rpm and below? Or some thing along those lines. The whole reason they're saying that you'll get no traction is because they've probably only seen or heard of some one with a stock rear suspension trying to launch at 3k rpm. Throw in some full length sub-frames, lower control arms, and even a panhard bar and some half way decent tires I guarantee you'll be able to launch fairly well with some 4.10 gears.

Take a look at the Mac headers, I never liked the idea that bbk has a tube dented for the steering rod clearance. Also listen to a few videos the Borla stingers are a great sounding catback on the 2v cars.

If you're going to get longtubes, at least get the SLPs. BBK has a dented primary instead of properly routing the pipes which can be done as other companies plainly illustrate. MACs rust if you look at them the wrong way and by the time you ceramic coat them you could buy the SLPs.

IMO, just do a catback and OR pipe and leave the stock manifolds in place. They are not restrictive on the 4.6L like the factory headers on the old 5.0s were.
