What happens if you over fill the transmission and then drive it? I over filled mine tonight because I thought the guy at the store said it took 5 quarts. I have not driven it since putting 5 quarts in and I am going to drain 2 out in the morning. Just curious. Not even kidding I am glad I found this thread before I drove it!!

The only thing I imagine here is shaking a soda bottle and it bursting. But not saying your trans will do this but yeah that's bad lol. Make sure it has 3.2 quarts of Trans fluid.

I can tell you 4 quarts wasnt anything noticeable. Not saying it didnt do anything bad, but i ran a little over 4 quarts for a while before realizing it.

Factory fill was 3.8 and it caused enough issues for them to release a TSB reducing it to 3.2 quarts. I would NOT drive it at 5 lol. Maybe the store guy did say 5 quarts. #1 rule of buying anything at autozone/advance etc... is to completely brain dump anything they told you while you were in there.

True that. I used to work there. Also, dont rely on their belt diagram for our cars. Its wrong also.

My engine is from a 2003 crown vic anyways lol. And it has a very strange belt set up for sure since I have the ps pump and a/c compressor from a mustang and then no belt tensioner and some grinded **** off the side of the block and on and on and on. It was a royal pita getting it right but its ok now

I put 3.2 into mine and couldn't get it to shift into 3rd. Ended up putting 3.6 in it.

Did you pour in from the shifter or try to do it with a pump? This does not make any sense at all. They'll shift fine with 3.0 quarts...

Transmission Fluid Change

Mine didn't. Filled it with a pump. Had lots of transmission noise with 3.2 as well. Lots of whirring.

Probably didn't get a full 3.2 in with the pump or even 3.0. Best/fastest/cleanest/easiest/most accurate way to fill is to take the 5 minutes to pull the shifter and dump it in through there. What kind of fluid?
