Maintain it and it will last. Had a 98 gt with 194K miles with no problem. Current gt has 84k and if I had to do it again I wouldn't have bought this car. Previous owner did not take care of it.

How much did you pay for the intake manifold?

The ford racing PI intake manifold is like 215$. Never get it from ford though or it's going to cost you like 750$

It was around $200 for another plastic one, but I got it for wholesale or whatever you call it (the price the mechanic pays vs. you going up to orielly's and getting it yourself) If you plan on keeping the 2V motor. I would say get some type of metal one to replace it, which is a bit more expensive. It took me almost a full day to replace (mainly because I was originally planning on just replacing the gasket.) I plan on running her till she dies, then doing a motor swap, so I chose the cheapest route. I'm pretty sure though if you replace the gasket at 100K or so miles, the intake should be fine, the problem was that the gasket leaked, therefore "weathering" the plastic manifold.

First post on these forums, looks like an awesome site! I just bought a 02 GT with 89500 miles on it last week, 5 speed and was taken care of well. I'm trying to figure out if there's enough life left in it to justify spending a couple thousand dollars upgrading it.
