How much RWHP/RWTQ can the stock clutch handle?

Never heard a set number on how much the stock clutch can handle on a dd. I'm putting down about 460-470RWHP and about 440-450RWTQ. Did 3 races racing and I smelt a little bit of my clutch. What clutch would you all recommend, I don't mind a stiff clutch, I don't have chicken legs. Lol.

About 400whp plus the clutch is going to be older and probably worn if its original. What year are you? Because the 99 Cobra and everything else from 01-up had 11" flywheels vs the 10.5" of 00-down so you'll want to upgrade to an 11" clutch/flywheel if your car didn't come with that size originally. You will not need to modify anything else and you will want a new flywheel anyway with a new clutch.

I've also edited out the street racing portions of your post. Any talk of street racing whatsoever is not allowed on the forum.

That is COMPLETE overkill for what he is doing. If he's on stock internals he's already on the ragged edge as far as the rods holding up. An Exedy 11" Mach 400 is rated for 500ft lbs and will be totally fine.

Guess I'm not going to do my fuel upgrade to go higher though so stuck...515 is fine with me I guess.

Just can't justify the cost when it runs like a top now.

And I thought rods didn't give out till about 400rwhp. I guess I'm a 25 more of a shot from that.

You have to have a dead nuts spot on tune and keep the RPM at 5600-5800 at most for the stock rods to hold up close to the 500whp level but people do it. Smart tune is to have the same dead nuts tune at 400-425 on the stock rods but if you want to rebuild later on anyway...

Yes you have an 11" clutch but it really doesn't matter since you should buy a new flywheel anyway and going from 10.5" to 11" is a simple matter of a flywheel/clutch combo. Like I said I'd get the Exedy Mach 400 if you don't have a built motor. Rated for 500ft lbs but make damn sure you properly break it in first. Lots of stop and go and no beating on it for 500 miles which is hard (I just broke one in over the summer).
