Clunking when downshifting
So when I drive my car, it doesn't really make any alarming noises. Mustangs are pretty noisy cars with their fair share of driveline slop, but Im not sure what all is considered normal.
When I downshift to second, I get a noticeable whining noise, which is normal for a 4.6 engine. But when I downshift into first, I get a pretty sloppy clunking noise that doesn't stop until I disengage the clutch.
Is there anything I should look out for? I am going to change the diff oil as soon as I can. Do you guys recommend a certain gear lube for the rear end on these? Is there a common problem that causes this noise?
