brake light on dash - Mustang Evolution

brake light on dash

I had to slam on my breaks hard a few times lately and now when I use them it sounds like its grinding and my emergency brake light comes on. visually they seem to look fine. any ideas?

That grinding noise deserves further investigation. I think that I would pull off the wheels and have a closer look.

Yeah pull them off. Check your fluid level Also because your light will come on when your brake fluid is low.

if I wore my pads thin would it make that grinding noise or a squealing noise.

A good way to monitor the life of the brake pads is, when the brake pads are all brand new, fill up the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir to the full line, and keep an eye on the fluid level. When the fluid starts to get low, it is a good indication that the the brake pads are becoming worn out.
Unless there is a fluid leak, you should never have to add any brake fluid to the reservoir.
