What year did Ford upgrade the P.I. Head

Anyone know what year Ford changed the PI head to eight thread spark plug bores?

I thought it was 2004. I have an 03 made after april so it has all the 2004 changes but I was still unsure if it has the 8 thread plug holes. It would be very nice if it did. I haven't done a spark plug change yet because of it. That and I need to get an inch pound torque wrench.

All 2004+ 2V heads are 8 thread and all "Ford Racing" heads are 8 thread. For the 4V cars, a common fallacy is that the "blue stripe" heads are 8 thread or whatever, this is wrong. The ONLY 4V C heads that are 8 thread are the 05 Revision Aviator heads and the limited supply of OEM 05+ cores you could get from Ford back in the 2000s.

Windsor motors got PI heads in 99
Romeo motors got the PI heads in ’01

Yep and all Mustangs had Windsors in 99, they switched to Romeos in 01. Either way the Mustang had PI heads from 99-up. Iron heads went bye bye in 1996 as far as the Mustang goes in 1996. But the original question was 8 thread plug holes, that was an 04-up thing no matter what application for the 2V and 05-up for the 4V.

01 was when the Mustang went to the Romeo motor but all Mustangs had PI heads in 99+ via the Windsor. Original question was about the spark plug threads tho.
