Whats the most advanced wrenching youve done?

So it seems to me like the mustangs are relatively simple cars, and great cars to learn to wrench on modern cars with. What are some of you guy's wrenching abilities that your stang has taught you? Im to the point where I like testing out new wrenching experiments almost as much as I enjoy drag racing cars of similar performance. id just like to also know how much the average guy on here works on their own ride

Assisting in a complete engine rebuild of a 91 Porsche 911 turbo amount other things done to the car. It took nearly 15 hours to get the engine out and 25 hours to completely dismantle the engineClick image for larger version

Hey Recon, this is Mustang Evolution... Not Porsche Evolution.
jk

My newest vehicles (That I'll admit to owning! Lol) are my twin 01 Bullitts. Everything else is 25 years old or older. Maintenance is required! I try to do ALL of my own mechanical work. The only things that I always "farm out" to the "pro's" is transmission and rear end work.
I've always had an interest in mechanical things. I've been tinkering with vehicles for over 40 years and I'm still learning something new all of the time! Technology advances quickly nowadays.

Whats the most advanced wrenching youve done?

That's the most advanced wrenching I've done now on a mustang no so brag worthy but valve replacement and pushrods maintenance on a 94 5.0 cobra
I'm also an auto tech by trade. But not currently have health issues.

Haha.
I was just giving you a hard time.
Yeah! That Porsche looks like a pain in the ***... I'm pretty sure that there is an engine buried inside of that jumble of mess!
I can see 40 hours to remove and disassemble that engine.

Lets see most advanced wrenching i've done...... Well i'm a newb at wrenching so most of the stuff i've done on my car i've gotten a bit of help from. Thats anywhere from brake pads and rotors, to all the suspension work i've done. I do get my hands on everything i've done to the car so i get experience that way. The only parts that i've truly done 100% by myself with zero help from anyone are my Rear Lower Control Arms, and my rear coilovers. Everything else i've gotten a bit of help on. But if i had to do them again i could do it myself. (Except for the Panhard Bar, that was a *****, and any welding.)

Yes the valve replacement and pushrods maintenance on the cobra was a walk in the park compared to the Porsche. I was taking the valve covers off with the exhaust still on (bad idea). Since the Porsche had 4 valve covers after getting them off. It had 4 broken head bolts just sitting in the there. I showed it to my boss and he nearly had a heart attack. But it toke nearly 6 months to finish the car because the oil return lines to the dry sump reservoir were garbage and discontinued. That and many many many other headaches that came putting it back together. It took 5 hours to put the rack and pinion in it. Our cars are so much easier to work on than imports...

Nice, I've also got 4 years on FRED (C-5) and some minor KC-10 experience. You probably get into a lot more advanced **** than I ever did though.

Lol yeah mine is big and slow, his is little and fast.

In a real world note, our pilots also do not have to wear diapers since we have a functioning latrine. They also don't point at each other with their elbows... ugh... fighter pilots...

Wearing diapers can be quite convenient actually. I do it whenever I am running late and don't have the time to stop at a bathroom. You just throw those on instead of underwear and you're good to go
