I'd say try to find you a good cobra motor or build you a nice 5.4.

I agree with slater 5.4 or a cobra engine (termi or N/A or Mach 1). Or find a low miles 4.6L 2v and build. I won't recommend a 5.0 coyote until they drop in price some.

Depends on two things, what you want and more importantly, how much you can spend.

If you're wanting a mild, streetable 300rwhp or so car look into a built 2v or a bolt on N/A 01 Cobra or Mach 1 4v.

If you want wild drop in a termi 4v if you can find one or go FI with a full forged mill. Expect to pay for it though, enough to where you could probably pick up an entire 01 Cobra/Mach 1 with fair miles.

I think it's hit or miss with coyote's. There are some takeoff engines out there with low miles for $7500+, but again now you're nearing a whole "new" car price, plus the conversion into your car will require more work.
I've heard of F150 5.0's going for much cheaper (as low as $1800) but I don't know what all would be needed for it to work, not to mention the powerband is different.

PI 5.4 or a 4v 5.4. Or maybe just a 4v 4.6 from a mark viii or something.

4.6, 4 valve aviator motor like roguestang just did. With longtubes and a tune it will be close to 300 WHP or so.
