A hard slant?
Does it turn a certain way when you do it? or does it feel like the front wheels go into a negative camber situation? (tops of wheels point towards eachother)
Do they feel like they make a reverse "pizza stop" position?

It seems like a pretty common ford characteristic for the front wheels to camber negatively when they drive in reverse. Especially in the 90s trucks

Sounds like rack and pinion bushing. One of them is likely completely gone. Allows it to torque side to side.

I have that same issue in mine, it pops when I slowly turn when the wheel's turned all the way.
