1st gear and reverse gear in 3650

Ive been noticing that when I try to take off in first gear, its more difficult to do than reverse. Its hard to take off fast without the engine lugging unless im launching like its a race. However reverse gear like to just launch like a bat out of hell.
Any ideas? Is this normal? I would have figured reverse would be more like 2nd gear and move slower than first.

Its a tremec 3650 in an 02, and the clutch is upgraded by the prev owner stock 3.27 gears.

You SURE the clutch has been upgraded? The ratio for 1st and reverse is identical, 3.38:1 so something is up with your driveline.

actually im really not sure. i've only had 2 people tell me that it feels like a racing clutch. Ive been tempted to dig it open just to look inside, but thats a lot of work for not replacing anything. It grabs nice and hard. But my only other experience is an 05 gt with a hydraulic clutch and stock clutch at 45k miles. Ive changed the U joints. to moogs a while back.

the best i can describe, If i rev and try to launch in 1st, it takes off pretty slow until i fully engage at enough rpm. revers, if i give it some gas (less than 2k rpm) and release the clutch just the same, it will almost try to peel out in comparison. not drastically, but its literally easier for me to take off fast in reverse than it is in 1st gear.

Im still open to the idea that i suck at driving manual though, but ive been doin this for over a year and a half now.
