Transmission question

Here's a question for the tranny experts. Or maybe even those who have done the swap themselves. Just curious if the manual trans in the v6 1999 is the same as the manual trans in the same year v8? Friend of mine got a 35th anniversary v6 for real cheap and he found the same year v8 (crashed on the side) for really cheap too. The v8 is auto but the v6 is manual. He wants to know his options for a transmission before he spends 2 1/2 grand on a tremec 6 speed. I'm not good with transmissions so i figured I'd ask some experts

So if I understand this correct he's gonna swap the GT Drivetrain into the V6 but wants to keep it a manual? He's gonna need a different transmission unfortunately. The V6 has a smaller bellhousing

Yes that is correct. & okay that's good/bad news. He never drove the v6 so he doesn't know condition of the internals. So a new tranny will probably do him some good anyways.
Thanks for the help!

Not a prpblem. A t45/3650 will bolt up to the 4.6 and can be found for a decent price

I believe he said something about getting a t45 but just wanted to know options. I think he'd be best off to spend the couple thousand (he's pretty much doing a resto-mod street car) and get a tremec 6 speed from lmr.
