Help with cam drivability

So I'm getting the stage three comp cam 270 installed this weekend and I won't able to get a tune for maybe another week or 2.. I was told it should run rich down low and lean up high but that there is some throttle screw or something I can adjust to help with that.. Is it gonna hurt anything new to drive it with no tune for just a few weeks? Just city driving to work..

It shouldn't just don't be racing around drive it normal. It may idle hunt etc that's why they mentioned throttle screw

I figured I'd have to give it a little gas or something at a light

If your getting it installed by a decent mechanic he should be able to get it to hold idle for you no need for all that. I have same cams or similar ones 270in 274 ex .550 lift and ported/polished stage two heads and it wasn't all that bad, I did them myself. I did mess around with the throttle body etc and get it to hold idle but sometimes it would still idle hunt. You are at least upgrading your valve springs right?

He's doing my long tubes and cam at the same time since he's gonna probably lift the engine and mess around the same area so he's cutting me a deal to install both for 550$ so that's not bad, and my gears are goin in this weekend for 200$

Valve springs.... Are you doing valve spring upgrade? It's required for those spec cams bro. What is the lift on your cams? Give me all specs.

270s are close with the stock valve reliefs, very close. He is going to properly degree them right? He had damn sure better degree them and not try to use the factory marks.

As far as a tune, it will run like **** until its tuned, I would not run it around untuned. You can do just fine with a mail order tune, sometimes as good or better than a dyno tune because a good remote tuner will use your datalogs from the street. When I say good remote tuner, I don't mean bama or steeda btw, I mean someone who actually datalogs like MPT.

270s you will have to degree a crap ton so they don't hit the valves. At that point it's not even worth it
