Engine Cant Turn Over

I cant get my 96 Cobra to turn over.
New battery installed. It feels like one of the components pulleyed on serpentine belt is seized up preventing the engine to turn over fast enough to start.
Originally thought it was the starter, then fuel pump. Strange sound and reaction when I turn the key, I've never heard or have seen anything like it.
-I guess I will remove belt and spin each bearing.
Do you agree with loosing belt to spin each pulley?
Would a bad starter behave same way, where engine struggles to spin?
Any help appreciated.

i would try to start it up with the belt off just to see if it starts up. but defenitely check your pulleys. i would imagine that it would still start and just rub the belt against the stuck pulley but maybe not, thats still a bit of resistance. could have a mechanical failure in the alternator or the water pump, where a broken piece is causing it to stick and make a noise. but what kind of noise is it?

Dude my starter cranks my car hard enough to start it even if its in gear.. I hope it is just something to do with your serpentine belt but Idk. It doesn't seem quite as promising as id hope

Are your battery cables in good condition?

Before you replace anything, check all of the connections and make sure that they are all clean and tight. Pay particular attention to the ground cables. A bad ground is a common cause of this sort of problem.

also check the wire leading to your crank sensor. i was told that a bad or disconnected crank sensor will lead to no start. I think theres a coolant sensor that can cause the same issue.

I had a ranger come in to the shop, monro said it needed a motor because it was locked up. It turned out to be an alternator!

Thank You,
I did just replace the alternator a few months ago but have only put a couple hundred miles on it afterwards.
My recollection was that i had upgraded the positive cable but had issues with how to properly ground it.
I'm going to go back out and look over the connections
Thank You All

RESOLVED! Finally!!
The Cobra is back on the streets. What i found was a blown 40 amp ignition module fuse. I also wired in a ground wire to the alternator while the hood was up.
Thanks Everybody!!!!!

I took it for a little drive secretly
Runs like a beast, handles and brakes fine, steering is tight.
We'll have it looked over tomorrow.
Looked underneath, barely a scrape mark on headers, mid pipe, evt..
-cobra is running great

Oh god, at first i thought you meant the cobra that you just got back on the street got totaled. that would have been awful luck. still bad enough that any of your cars get destroyed, but man, could you imagine the irony?

YEP, Crazy thought!!
The green car still has 10-20 thousand dollars in it.
-Dropped it off at body shop yesterday. With any luck they will fix entire car including dents my wife puts on it daily.
The Cobra is running GREAT!
Thanks

Correction- The Cobra had a 14 amp ignition module fuse blown, not a 40 amp. I replaced it with a 12 amp temporarily until im sure all is good.
I also used a Dremel to clean every positive and negative wire, connector, nuts, and bolts.
