Forged internals

What will it take to raise what a 2000 can handle horsepower wise?

If you want to "safely" go above 450 rwhp, it is recommended to forge the entire rotating assembly... Crank, rods and pistons.
If you are a gambling man, you may be able to get away with just using forged rods and pistons.

A well balanced cast crank can handle a good amount of power and rpms, it's also lighter than forged steel.

The same can be said for using quality Hypereutectic pistons instead of forged.

Beyond what the stock rotating assy can take? Forged internals/ported heads and new cams and then a power adder to take advantage of it and then a built driveline to get the power to the tires and then fully going through the chassis and suspension so the power at said tires actually goes to the pavement. $12-$15k plus whatever you paid for the car before factoring in labor if you aren't diy.

If you don't need more than 425 rwhp, Vortech, bolt ons and go.

Your rods need a damn good tune just to handle 450. Id get some H beam rods if I was going 400 rwhp - 550 ish. Anything 600 plus and you should probably get an entire forged rotating assembly.

And thats just the engine.

You need a good trans to hold all of that power
And driveshaft. and rear end/axles too.

Suspension is important. Drag slicks are good if you're going WOT from a dig all the time
