When you drilled the extra hole, did you have a lot of trouble getting through? It's pretty thick. I thought I'd try stepping it with smaller sizes and increasing up to the size needed.

I'm completely out of touch, i had no idea i could drop so much cash on a set of shocks.

Had to settle for the middle of the road, they are sliver so i went ahead and painted them BLACK.

Tokico makes a good shock and strut as well for more of a budget unit

When you see discussions about them on forums, seems like you have to buy their D-spec version for people to be happy. Those are not cheap. For the level of performance I was looking for, the Tokico HPs weren't getting good reviews with lowering springs. That's why I went with the Koni's. Both the SRT.T's and Yellows were well liked.

I have the Tokico HP struts on mine and I have had good luck with them so far. But I don't autocross or drag race, just drive it here and there. I have the STR.T shocks that Also seem good. I ended up mixing brands due to an in stock issue when I had the install lined up. They both have been good to me so far after two summer seasons of driving it. I did get the MM plates and those are second to none. You will be pleased with those.

I've decided on the raceland coilovers. They're getting more and more good reviews, and about the same price as the sale konis paired with decent shocks. Almost ready to pull the trigger on them @ $499. Anyone disagree ? as my build plan this year is one part per month, and suspension parts are first

I saw a review in one of the Mustang magazines that had good things to say bout them. I was considering those and changed my mind thinking they were probably more performance minded than I was looking for. It would be really nice to be able to set the ride height right where I want it though.

There is nothing wrong with KYB.
I had a set on my truck and they lasted nearly 400k miles before one of them finally began leaking, so I replaced them all... With another set of KYB's!

I opened another thread a few weeks ago because I was installing caster camber plates. That's when I installed the struts too. I thought it would be good to follow up in this thread about the Koni STR.T's.

After driving with them for a few weeks, I'm a firm believer that new shocks and struts is a must when you lower your stang. The Koni STR.T's are more sport oriented than your typical replacement shock and strut. They have a firm ride compared to stock, but are meant to also handle bumps better than a performance shock and strut. They are great for what I will be doing with my Mach. The biggest improvements I've noticed are higher speed rides on the highway. The car stays planted to the ground and doesn't bounce. Of course, bumps are much better, mainly because your stockers you replace are worn out. Another improvement is higher speeds on ramps with uneven pavement, cracks, and section cut. The car stays planted and doesn't hop around. Very nice feeling especially since it's not an IRS. Anyway, I thought I'd give a review since I got them in now.

Thanks for update.
I have a full set of STR shocks/struts ready to install on the Cobra. Cant seem to find many reviews like yours, appreciate it.
I'm pairing the STR's with H&R SS springs, C/C plates, X2 balljoints, & bumpsteer kit.

I really enjoy mine also. I finished my install the same day he did and have about 500 miles on them. So far so good. It firmed up the ride a lot. But didn't make it unbearable. Overall the car feels more solid in the suspension.

Thanks!
Did you install the C/C plates, balljoints, bumpsteer kit, with springs like mine?

I want to go just a smidge lower, so the Steeda X2's are on my list as well. They say if leave out the spring spacer, you will get about a 1/2" drop. I'm really glad I put the CC plates on. At first, I didn't like the looks of them, but I like them now that I see them on the car.

Looks like the Steeda X2's will get me what I want up front plus remove one of the ISO's. I thought about using a bicycle inner tube instead of electrical tape. I figured it would last longer. Someone suggested looking at the maximum motorsports rear LCA's that have a height adjustment. I want to make sure it's raked very slightly, so if I can get like 1/2" drop out of those, I should be good.
