Just went to the local "dragstrip". 96 vs 04 gt

I lined up with an auto 04 gt today. I'm pretty sure the car was all stock. My 96 (5spd) has an o/r x, 4.10s, and an sct tune. I spun a bit more than i wanted and got beat by about a length and a half. I honestly think with a good launch it would be an even race.

Just wondering what everyone else's experiences are in npi vs pi races. Should I have beat this car?

Its hard to make up for 50 horsepower difference with just an exhaust and gears. tune is basically just making the speedo work with the gears and compensate for exhaust flow changes.

Get nitrous and slicks. Then you'll be in a fast car for like $700 more lol

Seemed like a good spot for em.

To the other guys..I'm selling the car in a few months most likely. I'm not too concerned with beating that car.

Probably a "multi-use" facility...

Tune does not do anything for speedo in the npi cars because it still uses a mechanical gear on the end of the sensor so u have to change the gear on the sensor and sometimes even the one in the trans ... But with that said i think u did ok vs a pi car and thats not saying he was all stock... And if he has a tune with the jmod his auto trans could be on point which would make a big difference as well... Never know

How much improvement over stock would tune and Jmod do for new edge auto? I only ask bc these are my first two planned mods, and am curious as to what to expect.

Yes dragstrip, and my time was 13.8 and his was 13.4. I'm all aboard the Jmod train, I did it personally and never thought an automatic could be that fun to drive(it's still not a stick but whatever lol) oh and my buddy with the S197 is a stick. I'm an auto with the Jmod

Just went to the local "dragstrip". 96 vs 04 gt

Well with the tune u cn change ur shift points and up the trans pressue for faster shifts couple that with a jmod and ull get really fast and precise shifts as the jmod opens up the passages in the valve body which allows more trans fluid flow ( also helps the life of teans as well) so with those u could have a auto car that shifts faster then u could with a stick it makes a huge difference...
