To get 400 hp u need to plan on a turbo or supercharger... These motors dont make alot of power n.a but with some boost and suspension they fly
U could get 370-380 hp if u put a stroker kit in it with highly ported or trickflow heads, cams.. Full boltons.. Ect.... And ull spend alot of money doing it u could buy a vortech kit and be at 400 hp with just that and if u wanted more u could get u a forged rotating assembly and up the boost but if u went n.a route u would max out somewhere around 380 cuz of the high compression u wont be able to boost it.. Just some ideas and thoughts and oh btw i peiced together a full vortech kit for 1800 and had to pay 450 for a tune...

Nice car! and the quickest way to the 400 hp range is definitely nitrous. put a few bolt ons to get you around 280, then throw a 100 shot at it for $600 and you pretty much there

Auto or stick? Contrary to most ppl here, I'm hoping auto, especially for 2004 because that was the year with the upgraded auto.

04 and Auto! Sweet, you have the beefed factory auto. In 04 Ford used the 4R75W for that year only vs the 4R70W for the 03-down years and the 5R55 in 05-up cars. The 4R75W has stronger internals than the 4R70w and doesn't have the reliability isssues that the 5R had.

For your auto, it all depends on what you want to do with the car. For 400hp you will need a power adder, no way around it unless you spend like $8,000 on a stroker motor alone and then you might as well just sell everything and buy a 2011+ car at that point...

-Full tune up
-4.10 gears
-Steeda or MM lower control arms
-Midpipe/catback
-Subframes
-TFS Plenum/75mm TB combo available on Summit
-MM CC plates
-Lower 1.5 all around, SR springs and Tokico Illuminas are a good basic combo for this
-J-mod on your auto trans (youtube "J Mod TCCOA") for a walkthrough and what it involves
-Good set of wheels/tires
-MPT Tune

Now you are at a low 13 second/high 12 second car. At this point you can just supercharge it to 400hp and call it good but I would bite the bullet and have a triple disc stall converter put in. The converter itself will run anywhere from $600-$1200 for a good one and the labor is going to be pricey as it involves dropping the trans (unless you can DIY) but a good converter will knock half a second off a bolt on auto and put you in the mid 12s and make any power adder a lot more...usable. This is where the auto shines, at 1/4 mile racing. Not as good as a stick for corner carving or highway pulls but from a dead stop a good auto will wtfpwn a manual trans car.

Those are GT rims. The Bullitts were an option for those years.

Yours are the base wheels IIRC. From having helped my friend pick out a brand new 2004 GT way back in 2004, almost every single car we saw had the upgraded aluminum ones or the bullitts though. Also the salesman kept trying to upsell the Saleen until I asked him if he thought we were idiots and then mentioned that they are scamming anyone who they got to buy one over the Terminator.

Cool true story bruh.

Actually the fastest way to 400HP is taking it straight to a Ford dealer and trading it in for a Coyote...lol just kidding

You are correct tho... Or paying the same $6-$8k you pay for a real clean 2v and go spend it on a cam/bolt on F body...
