I'm still willing to try a tune from another company though. I'd get a dyno tune, but they one that I know of charges $500 for tune sessions.

Thanks! I'll checkout the site.
That's a deal! The best Shop around me is $700

The thing is, these guys do have real life experience. A few are professional tuners themselves. LaSota wrote a Ford user manual for SCT (and other brands), so I think they know what they are doing lol.

I'm not saying email tunes are better at all. I'm just saying for your typical bolt-ons, a dyno tune is overkill compared to a good email tuner. Realize that just because it's a dyno tune, doesn't mean that the tuners themselves are fully competent.

I will admit, if I could get a full session dyno tune for $300-$350, I'd do it just to have a dyno chart lol. There's just nothing close for me here.

I worry about those fast turn arounds. Probably no big deal, but you'd think they would be too busy for a turn around like that. That makes me think nobody is going to them lol.

There ya go! Maybe I should pay attention to shows in my surrounding states lol. I'd travel a little for a $40 dyno pull. You can datalog while they do the pull. That's great data that will include AFR.

A local dyno tune at a good shop is $500 and a sct handheld from mpt is $399 and that includes 3 of their tunes. Which one would be the better bang?

Are the tunes that come with the tuner tunes that are specific for your car where they ask you about it?

Best handheld tuner

Yes they are specific to your car.
You'll fill out a questionnaire about your car and modifications. They will have a selection along with descriptions of each setting.
If you're still unsure call JR or Ken over there and talk to them. They're great guys.

You have to buy a tuner regardless of getting an email or dyno tune. That's the way they flash your ECU. That's why dyno tunes are a waste of money if you have basic mods.

Hey this got away from the question What's the best handheld Tuner?

I like the MPT based on them providing Mod specific tunes i.e. PI Swap, however you cant beat BAMA getting tunes for life, being able to go back is big. don't know too much about the other guys

You can beat them when you install a set of cams and they tell you you are **** out of luck. Or if you have a 96-98 PI swapped car.
