I like the SCT X4.

http://www.americanmuscle.com/x4-cus...er-9904gt.html

I have the X3, the previous model of this. This new one is much nicer IMO.

Yup, Bama or anyone who can program in SCT's language. Seems like all the popular tuner companies use SCT.

What Bama tunes are on it; do they take in consideration if you have CAI and exhaust as well? Do they ask you that before you buy it?

My first few pinged, but after doing a few data log sessions, they got my tune set okay. I had to switch to copper plugs. Just some simple Autolite 104's. I just run the performance tune all the time. I don't really care to swap tunes all the time.

I used bama with my 06 and had a lot of engine work including cams and intake manifold as bigger ones never had a problem with headers. No codes

There is no way you should have had to switch to coppers to get it to stop pinging, stories like this are why you should never go with canned tunes.

Try MPT or another legit actual datalogging tuner or a local dyno guy if you know a good one.

Yeah, I felt the same way about it. I was told by others with Mach's is that it was that they were already tuned a bit more aggresively than the GT's were and Bama was not taking that into consideration. I'm not sure, but we stuck with it and got it sorted out after a few datalogs. I actually think Bama is better now than they were when I originally got my tune in 2012. I'm still willing to try a tune from another company though. I'd get a dyno tune, but they one that I know of charges $500 for tune sessions.

Hey TJ I read on your website that cams and superchargers aren't covered on you're tunes for life. Would this mean that there would be a separate charge for those or do you not do it?

Yea just couldn't see myself spending another 150$ just to give another company a try for a canned email tune...thats 150$ toward a dyno tune...

They don't do them at all, hell they wouldn't even tune my 98 that was PI swapped with stock PI stuff lol. Neither would Bama. MPT would though.

Easy fix to your pinging.... Fill it up with your normal gas then put a gallon of 110 in it

Or find a tuner that will actually fix the problem vs putting copper plugs in the car...

I have MPT as a tuner. I love them! But I was just inquiring. I know MPT does everything you can throw at them.

Because the Bama tunes are generally safe conservative canned tunes which is the whole point. If the MPT tune threw a light its because it was a first run tune and he needed more logs, at least that is what seems most likely.

A good email tuner working with datalogs can do just as good a job these days. I mean you have power adder Coyotes running around with nothing but an email tune from AED/VMP/Lund/whoever and they're just KILLING it.

That is actually a pretty fair price for a dyno tune although unsure how they are tuning it without putting it on the rollers. Unless they are doing a baseline and tuning via logs.

I know it needed logs lol. But even after the first log on the mpt it was virtually the same as my bama. So I just decided not to log and stuck with my bama

Everybody with personal tuning experience tells me that it's a waste of money to dyno tune anything that's not boosted in some way. I don't know, but I thinking I had cams, I'd go for the dyno. I'll just try another email tune until I'm 100% satisfied. I hear Lund is good, but I think that starts at $200. There's LaSota Racing too. This is one of the guys that created a book on tuning Ford mod motors. That's who I think I might start with. I just need to pull the trigger and get started. I have just been lazy about it lol.

If I remember right, you get a tune, then you datalog, then you get an official tune adjusted based on the datalog. Did they mention that?

Nobody with real life experience will ever say this. Stop talking to internet racers lol. I guess picking up over 40rwhp on my NA Cobra from it's dyno tune was a waste of monies...

MPT is still a very good tuner. I have them and they are very aggressive and I haven't had problem. I have nearly every bolt on, gears and manifold back catless exhaust. No CELs or anything weird. I couldn't be happier.
