IDK, maybe its been aerated somehow..? Motorcraft coolant is goldish. Darker than that I'm pretty sure. Maybe you should keep floshing it more..? When you fill it, make sure you follow this burp procedure...

Lol

I suppose in your case Prestone is cool. I would have been concerned about mixing two different types, but there probably wasn't any to mix with.

So did the pics help with the vacuum lines?

You might have trouble finding email tuners since it's a swap. Although, they shouldn't have an issue because you have the stock computer. Try Lasota Racing. There are several on the Mach1registry who use them. The guy wrote how-to's for tuning for SCT's programming manual. He also sells how-to books as well. Anyway, if you have a laptop and can datalog, I would check them out. I plan to switch to him myself.

SCT LaSota Racing Ford Mail Order Custom Tunes

@azurebluemach
The only email tuners that will have an issue are the canned tuners. Anyone who actually tunes it via a startup tune and datalogs will have no problems.

Tuning by James. If you can get in touch with him. 399 for tuner, 75 for tunes. I'm not sure if there is an extra charge for data logging.

I paid $200 shipped for a used tuner from the Corral and I can tell you right now a serious tune from him is not $75 but the person looking for the tune from him can get a quote directly. I have had email responses from him within 2 days 3 or 4 times now. He says that he's 2-3 weeks booked so keep that in mind when scheduling a tuning session via the interwebs.

A standard performance file from him is $75, and with a few other things like PATS turned off like in my case. Like I said I'm sure It's more once you get into data logging but this is what he quoted me to start. $399 and $75 for the tune. Updated logging from that point would be extra. I've given up on him now though, he emailed me back, again I called when he asked, and again no response. No big deal I'll order from Bama next week as they can do what I need Also, just got to get it so I can Actually drive it. But I'm sure He's very good, I may try to use him the future if I don't go local.

Hmmm he's definitely been pretty responsive with me. I needed to get that SCT tuner regardless and I'm obviously not going to buy a pre loaded canned version so no need to buy new. X3 can load tunes just as well as the X4.

One could argue the x3 is a better choice because it has less to go wrong with it, like the display. You want to make sure it has the latest software version flashed to it.

I tried flashing it the other night and it locked up right before it flashed to the newest firmware. Pulled it and it was fine back on the old version did it again and again.

That was on my Win8 omfgwtfbbq gaming desktop tho through a USB3 hub so I'm going to try it today on the laptop downstairs with Win7 in a regular old legacy USB port and see what happens.

If not the firmware version on it is the next one down from the most current version so its fine.

And yes I agree that the X3 is pretty bulletproof like I can toss it around my garage like every other thing I have. I'd be scared to break the X4 lol.

I hate Windows 8 lol. It took me several tries to get it to communicate with the x3. There is a procedure out there that works, but I think most of it was due to updating the firmware on the device. Once I did that, the procedure to get it to communicate with win8 worked.

When I had the X2 for my gt I couldn't connect it with windows 8 or my MacBook and actually had to buy a computer with Windows 7 on eBay to tune my car and so far I love my X4 and I don't even have a tune on it yet lol. But took it for a longer drive today running almost flawlessly, it's definitely going to need a tune but once I get it it's going to be sweet, it pulls harder already with 3:55 then my gt did with 4:10 I know that's not saying much but I'm already more then hapy with it Click image for larger version

You guys are going to laugh at me but i did a pretty hard launch tonight and pretty sure I fried the clutch, I have to start it in first and have to force it into gear, anyone know a good clutch or should i go with OEM, I know i also need to replace the throw out bearing and the pilot bearing FRPP. The clutch felt weird driving it and i thought that it was just due to me not driving stick for a couple months then a 3k drop and bang

3K drop should not have hurt anything unless you like... dropped it into 3rd instead of 1st or something.

You'll need a new flywheel too or get yours resurfaced. I recommend new. Get an 11" flywheel instead of the 10.5" ppl will tell you is for your year and get an 11" clutch too. Fit is the same, the flywheels are actually the same diameter but the 11" units have the dowels further out towards the edges to accommodate an 11" clutch. I recommend the Exedy 400 11" clutch and then get an OEM throwout and pilot from a Ford dealer. Note I said OEM, not FRPP. FRPP is not OEM.

Check the cable and quadrant first. Could be that the OEM plastic quadrant is cracked or possibly the cable is frayed or broke.

Like azure said im going to check the cable and quadrant, the clutch was acting weird the whole time, so I hope it was just the quadrant or cable save me so Money Scott is that the new clutch you bought???
