V6 to Mach 1 Swap

I picked up a wrecked 2003 Azure Blue Mach 1 with less then 20xxx on the car for a great price, unrepairable, but the Drivetrain is perfectly fine. I am going to be swapping this into an 03 V6 5 Speed i've had for a while that I got for free. Going to be all stock for the swap until i know that everything swapped in fine, got started the other day and I will try to post pics as I go.

ha. i was prepared to tell you dont waste your money on a swap, just buy a mach 1 and save money, but damn, you got the dream job right here. but this should be cool. Just transfer whatever you can over, including the ecu. grab whatever interior parts you can, either to swap or hold onto for later.
hope it works out good, and no bad surprises come up in the middle of the swap. Post pictures too, i wanna see how it goes.

Thanks man, im super excited, Ive got the the cluster and the steering column changed from the mach into the V6 already, dash harness is the same so no point in disassembling the entire dash to change something that doesnt need to be changed, now its time to strip both cars and start the biggest headache of the swap, the harnesses

oh, and make it a sleeper. after the swap, just make people think you put a cold air intake, dual exaust, and a bama tune on it, and blow em away when they think a v6 just did 0 to 60 in like 5 seconds, lol.

"Hey guys, my dad just bought me this v6! its got a lot of power compared to my old civic. you guys wanna race?"

Yep, keeping the V6 body completely, selling the shaker and shaker hood, ive had a couple people look at me like im an idiot when i say im selling it, but a shaker is for a mach 1, this isnt and never will be a Mach 1

Heres the progress so far, going to start the V6 strip down first, then strip the Mach.

I like what you're doing!

Make sure you swap the rear end and suspension too! Maybe put as quiet of an exhaust on as you can lol, and don't make the dual exhaust noticeable, have the driver's side exhaust tip just dump behind the bumper where you cant see it

Computer, cluster, and steering column from the Mach are in the car, the car started and ran the V6 so that eliminated all of my worries about the PATS system making the car not start.

Got the intake manifold off yesterday, figured i might as well replace all somewhat easily accessible gaskets before i put the motor in... and when i had it out why not slap some paint on it as well. Looks really good, will look even better with the ford racing blue valve covers. Getting there slowly but surely.

I was ready to say "sell the v6 and buy a V8" but not if you have a whole donor car. Not sure I'd sell the shaker... but its probably going to bring a lot of $$$ as it looks like the hood miraculously survived which will help fund everything else.

Honestly, at 20k miles I probably wouldn't touch anything motor wise unless it obviously needed it. Heck even the clutch is probably fine. Just do a drain/fill on all fluids to include the diff and the correct factory updated fill on the 3650 trans (3.2 qts instead of 3.8).

One thing I for sure WOULD keep are the Mach sail panels, they are different and better looking (IMO) than the GT ones and really set the car off. Also update anything on that GT that needs updating with what is likely a mint interior, I'd say probably swap the whole damn thing like you seem to be doing.

Def post pics of the process too. Going to have V6 insurance and V6 badging but a nice 300whp ride when you are done.

Very cool swap, always sad to see a Mach 1 torn apart, especially with so few mile on her but it's going to a good cause. That powerplant is way to healthy to just be rotting away at a salvage yard.

Btw, any chance you're willing to sell some parts off that Mach 1 to help fund the swap? I may be interested in some. PM me...

Thinking about hearing a 4.6L 4V exhaust with the top down is a smile from ear to ear kind of thought.

I would have kept it personally but if you need funds for the project its a cosmetic only thing that will add zero performance and I bet you got at least $1k for it.

Motor is finally out, ended up having to cut more then half of the car off to just get it out, no brake lines or wiring harness was touched.

Got the valve covers off and powder coated, Also got the harnesses and vacuum lines out, now waiting for a few parts to come in... Long tubes, O/R x pipe, Tuner, intake and MAF due to it being destroyed during the wreck.

Damn she must have been pinned pretty good if you had to nearly cut the whole front clip off. May I ask what it ran to get the valve covers coated?
