I know owning is not feasible for everyone and obviously not everyone qualifies right away (or ever). If you CAN afford to own and maintain a house and you choose to rent... IMO you're a chump. You can either pour your monthly income into paying off someone else's house or your own. Not to mention its a tax shelter and you don't have to worry about asking some rando permission to paint your own damn walls.
Or you move around alot. So can't say someone is a chump for renting when they can afford to buy a house.

This for sure. Affording a house is not too challenging. When you are always moving you would be dumb to buy a house in my opinion.

Nope, just someone who can take over a bigger restaraunt at any moment. Don't want to be paying a rent and a mortgage lol

Like I said, not everyone can... I'm military and I know a lot of ppl who make "**** you money" but rent because they have to or move every 4-6 years.

Soooooo out of curiosity what are you living in now... And you act like your taxes go no where... They kind of maintain the thing you drive your mustang on.....

That's a lot of moving!

But still, if you had bought every one of those houses, and kept them when you moved, and rented them out, at that rate, you would be out of the oil business and would become a real estate mogul in 10-15 years.
And owning all of those rental properties, you would have enough tax write-offs where you wouldn't have to pay a dime in income tax!

Real estate will never add up to the oil business imo. Maybe if you owned a neighborhood. If we ever decide to sell it will be worth it. I will keep doing as I do till my dad hands over the keys 100%, then I will be opening up my performance shop on the side.

Lol, luckily the kids are still young so probably the vehicles.
My wife Said she wants to move back to Louisiana so maybe next year I will buy a house and keep them there.

Car is happy anywhere though as it sits in the garage more than anything

No, maybe not.
You know your situation best. It's always nice to be diversified a bit and not have all of your eggs in one basket, so to speak.
And rental properties are a very good tax shelter. No matter what your income level is.
