The traction control is OFF when the indicator light is lit.
Normally, when the TC light stays on, it means that the ABS is no longer functioning and the ABS light in the instrument cluster will be on as well.

If your abs light isn't on, I wouldn't worry about it , actually I wish that would happen to me lmao. That button is the first thing my finger touches after starting the car, in rain, snow, sleet, ice, tornadoes, etc lol.

If you bought the car used it could have been tuned to have the traction control turned off all the time

hit the brakes on a dirt road does it just slide like a old buggy then its burnt out or tc is no longer working happened in my 2004 but after traction control tried to kill me i never turned her back on. she decided to think for me causing me to lose controll and hit a crooked mail box .... i swear i actually spun out and tipped a leaning mailbox causing it to go perfectly straight i thought i was going to hit the curb .... ouch dont want that.

See? traction control just wanted to fix the mailbox. Traction control is smarter than you think!
