cleaning wheels

So with the warm weather here I want to clean my rims up. I have a fairly thick layer of brake dust and what looks like rust build up. I tried blue magic and it got some of the thinner spots but the majority is still there. Any recommendations on products or methods?

I have used Never Dull wadding compound on wheels like that before. I did a couple cars that have never had their wheels cleaned I don't think other than a drive thru wash. Wasn't my car, just wanted to get that out there lol. But the Never Dull worked. It takes a while to get them done as you concentrate on a small portion at a time. I never had any issues after using this with the wheels, or clearcoats or anything. I gave them a good washing afterwards as it leaves kind of a film. Then I used a light coat of spray detailer on them to shine them up. Worked for me. I would not use this method over and over though, get them clean then keep them clean.

Also spot check a small spot first to see how it works and in case It's too harsh.

Yeah give it a try. It's cheap. A guy I work with just did about the same thing your doing and it had caked on brake dust and he got it off with the never dull.
