2001 cobra?

Considering selling my 2003 GT for a 2001 cobra that has 119k on it. Mine has 198k any thoughts on the car? Pros cons, difference from the 03 gt. I haven't heard anything about that year or that anyone has one.

2001 cobra?

It's a nice car, it's got the 4V in it. It's rated at 320hp, which isn't bad. It doesn't have the 6spd that's in the terminator, or the front and rear bumpers. I wouldn't mind having one, just to make a mean N/A 4V. But what's he/she asking for it?

You aren't going to get verry much for your car.

Yeah you might as well keep yours. You will be lucky to get anything for it as mentioned. And you couldn't replace it for what you have in it I'm sure.

Your GT is worth $3k at most.

The 01 Cobra has:

-4V Motor rated at 320
-Independent Rear Suspension
-99/01 Specific tail lights with amber signals
-99/01 Specific front bumper (best looking one, ppl who swap them suck)
-01 Cobra specific seats, similar to the Termi ones but noticeably different
-Bigger brakes
-SVT extras throughout like white faces, badging, wheels etc...

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things...

For $9k... its overpriced for those miles IMO unless the car is immaculate. I'd say $7500 is more like it. Depending on the condition of your current GT, you may want to keep that one.

It is a good base to build on but agree the price is a bit high.

The 4v's are great motors but were nearly maxed out N/A wise by SVT kind of like the SVT focus too.... I vote getting a compression/leak test and see if your engine is in good running order then slap some FI on that ***** 😂

Right guy might pay more but miles like that scare people. Why get rid of it? Looks like it's in great shape. Keep it and DD it and then snag the cobra if you can get a good deal on it and make it your toy. Or don't mess with that cobra at all. What's the appeal of the cobra vs your GT?

She sure looks nice but the millage is what is killing it. You could get more from a private buyer, but Kelly Blue Book says in excellent Condition $4,230.

I know I said $9k is high for the mileage and that is true... but mileage doesn't matter as much as condition with a 14 year old car. At this age, figure every bushing in the suspension along with the shocks/struts/springs is going to have to be done regardless of miles. The modular motor can go practically forever and is cheap to replace if you need a new one. A 2V is a few hundred bucks, an Aviator 4V motor from 2005 with lower miles is $1500 which is still damn cheap and gives you the best 4V heads.

2001 cobra?

^ if that happens, I'd definitely look into getting a 4V or a 5.4 2V or 4V...
That 4.6 2V is great, sounds good, but it doesn't make a lot of power. Which it's whatever, but if the engine goes boom maybe look into upgrading to a better engine...

If you are going to upgrade the motor you have 2 choices.

1- Cheap replacement motor as in a low mileage PI motor out of whatever (02-05 Explorer is preferable due to the WAP block) or a 4V of some sort.

2- Do a buildup... of a Coyote.

IMO 400ish WHP is perfect for the street and can be easily achieved with a FI 2v. But thats me.

Yep, fresh 2V and a supercharger of some sort, tune to 400-425rwhp on premium gas, upgrade the rest of the car around it if you don't already. I'd honestly upgrade the suspension/wheels/tires first as well as the rest of the "bolt ons".

Nope, not at all, as long as you don't have any "COBRA" badging on the car. IMO anyway. I hate Fobras... However, good luck finding a good 99/01 front bumper for less than $600-$700. OEM takeoff is your only option. Simply keeping the GT bumper with a Mach lip looks really good.

Termi bumper is ok... IMO, the 99/01 Cobra bumper with a Mach lip is the best setup you can get but you know what they say about opinions...

Did not see anything on your brakes if you can find a set off of a 99-04 cobra or Mach-1 it will make a world of difference in stopping her. That was one of the 1st things I did to my 00 GT after the Cat back exhaust.

The 99-04 GTs actually did come with dual piston calipers, just not 13" front rotors or vented out back. Going to the Bullitt/Cobra/Mach setups does make a pretty good difference but not as drastic as a 98-down car and for damn sure not as drastic as a fox.
