Dogs and Mustangs

So my wife managed to talk me into getting a dog. A siberian Husky to be exact. only 4 months old now. but shes gonna become a 60 pounder, based on her parents. So I'm wondering, as far as the 94-04 cars go, do any of you guys have good luck with letting a dog ride in a mustang? Hopefully, by august, if I can manage to go from substitute teaching to full time teaching, I can afford a secondary vehicle, like an Expedition or 4 door truck. currently, if i decide to do that, i would have to sell the mustang. She already drives the fuel efficient nissan sentra.

My 70lb pit has scratched my tint, ripped my leather, and scratched a lot of interior plastic pieces. We now take him in the truck only lol. Let her destroy the Nissan!! Good luck with that bro

Basically if you can't put it in a soft crate and then buckle said soft crate to one of the rear seats... I would not put an animal in a Mustang unless you don't care if something gets torn up. So pretty much nothing bigger than a 25lb dog really. Medium dogs in the 60-80lb range... hell no.

Dogs and Mustangs

She's beautiful...
My dogs never rode in my mustang but I had them in my truck and my challenger (big mistake with the challenger). Which my mustang is named Recon's car or Recon...

That's Recon, lost him August 22 last year, now he's resting beside his sister. I found him and his sister on June 20, 1998 (we made that date their birthday) on my local highway. Best thing that ever happened to me. That dog was more precious to me than anything or anyone. Which that is what a dog will do to you. He made me a better person. But I'll let you know when you come to love that dog, you will dread the day you have to say good bye...
And yes my username is in honor of him...
Named the car after him because from the first day I bought it to the day I found his body, he laid next to it every day. I always knew where he was and I was comforted by that. I started to worry about him as he got older and couldn't move around as good. But he laid right next to my car, even the day he died...

Adventure till you drop

The problem with a husky is they shed at an unbelievable rate! You will be vacuuming everyday and will have hair on your clothes everywhere you go no matter how hard you try. I have Actually seen the hair from my clothes on other people's at work It's so bad. Oh and Yeah I have a husky. Great dog but huge maintenance.

My 90lb lab is my co-pilot rides in my 06! She loves it, it's practically her car. One day we got stuck behind a chicken truck with top down, she loved it, I didn't. Click image for larger version

Gorgeous dog! My girl wants a husky but I want another pit. Preferably a XL bluenose or a true gator mouth, but I'm just a huge pit guy. Still a beautiful husky!

Its not a super lot, we feed a real good food that doesn't have a ton of filler or any byproducts so that helps. And I follow them around when they do their business and clean it up immediately so no land mines.

Dogs and Mustangs

My son has a Siberian Husky. The dog has not ridden in my car, but his hair still gets in there.

Putting a thick blanket on the seat will help keep your dog from scratching or tearing the seats. My son's cloth seats are still in excellent shape after many hours of his dog's travels without any blanket.

I always thought Siberian Huskys looked like a different fur patter/color German Shepard. Always like Huskys they have such beautiful eyes...

Completely different looking dog. They are both a "Spitz" type but that's it really.

Rabbits are great pets, people don't even know. Just have to get them from a good breeder, not some rando pet store or CL ad.

Here's another pic of Mr. Grumpy our Blue English Angora that is coming in from Ohio in about 2 weeks.

Oh jeez... my Parents have a White Shepherd like that, actually two. I grew up with one I suspect was a yellow lab/white shepherd mix. That was the best dog I ever had until now.

Big Shepherds like that have terrible hip issues usually though... my Parents' dog had to have full blown hip surgery at two years old and is now too old for the other one to get done and he's like 130lbs... The perils of getting a pet from a backyard breeder/store... or rescuing really but rescuing is a completely different (and good) thing obviously. Buying a puppy from a store or a bad breeder is one of THE worst things you can do and one of the biggest issues in the pet industry... #soapbox

I have a Siberian husky as well (5 months old today actually) I have had her in my car 4-5 times and she always just lays down in the seat and just chills. Granted I drive a little more conservative when she is with me.
