New 97 GT ~ First Upgrades

The car is stock, just a cold air intake and flow masters.

Looking to add upper intake plenum w 70mm throttle body to get it breathing right!
My question is;
I ordered a spacer for the plenum - is it worth the cost for using? I would like to do a pi swap in the future.

Any suggestions for other must do mods - I'm not looking to go crazy, but I am new to mustangs!

Thanks!

The spacer won't net you any gains. At least from what I have researched and read. Congrats on the new car! 410 gears are the one thing that really woke my car up being a 96 npi.

Spacer is a waste, you want a 75mm TB, not 70mm. Get the Trick Flow Plenum/75mm TB combo for $279 from Summit. Better quality that the cheapo ones and USA made, not Chinese copy.

PI swap should definitely be on your list of things do do when you get the basics taken care of. You auto or manual?

Depends how fast you want to go on the highway. Get some slightly taller tires and you should be fine or just go 65mph and you'll be fine... Or just rev it. OD in an auto is .70 so you can put that into the RPM calculator (first google result and scroll to the bottom calculator on the page) along with your MPH and tire size of 25.7" to see what you will be spinning. They aren't as bad as ppl will lead you to believe, don't fear the gear.

The SR pieces... they'll be ok but they are Chinese copies of other brands.

I'm at about 2400-2500 rpms at 70 on the highway, if I kick it down to 65 then It's about 2200 or so. It isn't bad at all honestly. It will effect your mpg though. If you do a ton of highway driving then Maybe go with 373 gears..mine is not a daily. The difference between 373 and 410s was small enough for me just to get the 410s.

I almost feel like if I went for the 373s I wouldn't have been happy and been wishing I went 410.

I'm thinking about getting gears in the next week or so, but mines my DD (manual) what do you suggest I do? I've looked into both and either way it sounds like I'll be happy.

I have 3.73 and wish I went with 4.10s.

I also just finished my PI swap. I rebuilt the bottom end while I was at it.

I'm still working with the tune. The swap is acting different with my supercharger.

4.10s, don't fear the gear. If you feel your highway RPMs are too high, jump up to a 26.5" or even 27" tall rear tire. From your username I'm assuming you have a 99 so you have the .68 overdrive.

70mm or 75mm? I heard on the stock GT, if you go with 75mm then there could be issues with the sensors or something like that. Think it was mentioned on one of AM Justin videos.

Make sure get some of the appearance mods too. Makes a world of difference from an eyeball standpoint.

For the throttle body, 75mm.

And yeah a 94-98 with a nice set of wheels cleaned up and a few appearance mods COMPLETELY overhauls the look of the car.
