My first Mustang! - 2004 GT

This is my first Mustang. Always has been a dream of mine to own one since helping my dad restore his first Mustang he got when he was 16. A badass 1969.

Well there she is.

Opinions on the white decals? I want to buy black wheels but don't think it would look right with the white decals. Can I purchase black decals? And how hard is it to take them off and put new ones on yourself?

Lookin good! The white decals aren't really doing it for me, but the black wheels and decals thing doesn't do it for me either. The decal should just be a vinyl and peel right off.

Looks great man! I'm not a huge fan of decals but that's why everyone has different interest! Use a hairdryer and heat up the vinyl and it should be able to pull off... Depending on how long they were on there though, expect some difference in paint matching.

Very good point. I don't think a lot of people consider this before pulling decals off older cars. Keep in mind it is an 11 year old car..if it has spent a lot of time in the sun etc there will be a noticeable shade difference in the paint where the decals used to be. Nothing you'll see at 20 feet, but up close it'll be noticeable.

I noticed this when I put a new hood stripe decal on my Mach 1 after I got it. The covered area was easily 3 shades darker. Luckily the replacement decal was exactly the same size so it covered it up.

Oh and to the OP, welcome! Very nice GT...looks real clean.

Nice mustang and congrats!! I would Also take the decals off, get a staggered set of wheels, then lower it 1.5-2" to start. Then exhaust. Haha. Maybe it already has an exhaust system? Good looking car though

Yeah I was afraid of that color difference. I might keep it really haven't decided yet. There is an exhaust system on it for sure but haven't been under yet to see what the setup is. I get some pics up from under the hood and exhaust soon.

Thanks for the input guys.

Yeah check it out thoroughly then see what your working with before you throw any parts at it. Decide what is the most important thing to you with the car, like drag racing, auto crossing, or just plain cruising.

Manual.. Come on now haha. And it has 73,000. 1 owner or so they say. And it is very clean I'm happy with it. As of now it's just going to be a cruiser but it's a matter of time before I want to jack her performance up.

Also I'm not too familiar with the different choices when at the fuel pump. Can premium gas do damage from burning hotter? The owners manual says 87. What would be the advantages of a higher grade fuel.. Or if I should even do it?

A higher octane will not damage your engine but I recommend a 93 tune or there really is no point... Now if you have a 93 tune and put 87 in... Thats a different story

I made the mistake of running 91 for a long time...there is no benifit without a tune...just a waste of $$

Higher octane actually burns cooler...

You really don't need to run premium unless you have it tuned for it.
Very nice ride by the way.

One of your first mods should be a tune, tuner. Coming from a guy who hasn't bought one yet, lol. I'm working on getting one now since the damn PATS syndrome has started, get it turned off and Also get a 93 octane tune along the way, may as well right?!

Make sure if you get a 93 tune to run a full tank of 93 through your car to work out any 87 or 91 or whatever was left in there

Well I ended up removing the white decals because I tinted the taillights and blacked the fuel door out too. Just didn't look right. Now the wheels eventually.

Congrats on Mustang v8 or nothing, but I heard you say you want to jack up car in future to make changes. That's an or was an American muscle rocker Decals. So my suggestion is check drives shaft and make sure gears weren't put in.... Etc, because ya never know what some lone already did for you just saying lol. Check maf, check for updated fuel injectors, everything before modding so you won't be double doing... Just an opinion.
