2000 Mustang GT mods??

I am looking into new mods. I want something that isn't that expensive. I want to boost my hp up a little bit higher. Any recommendations? I don't want to spend anything more than $1500. I already have a cold air intake and glass packs. Please comment. I have only had the car for a few weeks, and i am in love with it. I want to start taking it to the midnight drags. something that will but me in the low 13's 1/4?

You could use gears and a tuner, might not be HP increase but does good, and then you need to do suspension upgrades...
HP comes after those upgrades...

That would be a good start. That would be about your whole $1500 depending on if you do the labor yourself or not. But with doing that you will see lower 1/4 miles times than you would stock for sure. You will see on here a ton of guys with experience preach about suspension and how that will benefit you even more in some cases verse adding hp.

Nitrous. Gears are not exactly difficult to install but you need specialized tools.

cheap headers and or mid pipe will help a lot. I've heard pacesetter makes a decent set for dirt cheap. Definitely get a tune for that. Gears are best bang for the buck in acceleration. Good tires get u a long way. Don't waste the money on a cai. But a cheap plenum and tb combo are definitely worth the price. Springs help handling along with any frame stiffening parts and control arms. I wouldn't worry about pulleys and spacers and such. Not worth the do imo. That's about all the mods that are worth what you pay.

Cheap headers are one of the WORST things you can do. 1- you really don't need to replace the stock manifolds with shorties and 2- cheap longtubes are... well... you get what you pay for. Good ones are $700+

Yea I meant long tubes. Are the ps long tubes really that bad? I've never really heard anything bad, no fitment issues. They have a worthless coat of paint and a plain end collector but they are good for what you pay I hear.

If you are going through the pita to get them installed get it done once with stuff that you won't have to replace in 2-4 years

2000 Mustang GT mods??

Life of the part, aka quality, means how long it will last and how much abuse/power it can take. Quality parts play a VERY big role in a cars performance...
You get what you pay for...

The pacesetters will rust if you look at them funny. The coating is only there for protection during shipping anyway, it burns off right away and you have bare metal. Cheap bare metal at that. If you're going to be super cheap at least get the Pypes I guess... or just do it right once and get a good quality set. Its always funny how ppl have the $$$ to do things right the SECOND time...

I remember reading some flow bench testing that said the stock TB and plenum only lose a couple of cfm at 5500. I mostly just cruise so I didn't think it was a good call for my car.

I have not been able to find the testing again though. I will keep looking as it was an interesting piece of work.
