What do you guys think of this 96GT Vert?

If any of you have been following my forum antics lately you'll realize I am going stir crazy not having a Mustang. I thought I could do it... I have not gone this long without one since I got my first one in 2001... yeah no. So looking for projects but also looking in the $4-$7k range for the "right one".

Here is one I feel may fit the bill.

EXTERIOR:
ABCexclusive cobra bumper with lip
VIS carbon fiber hood 00 cobra R
Kaenen spoiler
Smoked headlights
Smoked foglights
Smoked tail lights and third brake light
Abcexclusive tonneau cover
99-04 GT fender badges
Black vinyl rear bumper cover lettering
Ford Racing hoodpins

INTERIOR:
Custom wrapped front and rear seats
FR500 steering wheel
Kenwood cd player
Door cups painted body color
Custom billiard ball shifter
New floor mats
New carpet(not installed)
98 center console with paint matched cupholders
ABCexclusive styling bar

ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN/ETC:
PI heads
CompCams XE270ah cams
FRPP shorty headers
BBK off-road h-pipe
Flowmaster catback exhaust
Accufab plenum and throttle body(75mm)
BBK CAI
Polished rad cover
Polished Moroso coolant tank
Steeda Tri-ax shifter
SPEC stg2 clutch and pressure plate
FRPP 3:73 gears
NGK plugs
COP conversion kit
Steeda underdrive pullies

BRAKES/WHEELS/SUSP:
Powerslot front and rear rotors
Hawk front and rear pads
GOING TO THROW ON SOME OTHER WHEELS OR YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN
H&R supersport springs
MM caster/camber plates
Steeda x2 balljoints
MM bumpsteer kit

What do you guys think? Yeah there are a bunch of little things I would change to clean it up, trans is original so I'm assuming its going to need a rebuild at some point in the near future but besides that... as clean as my 98GT and from another forum enthusiast who enters it in shows.

And yes Raptinator I know I change my mind every 5 minutes lol. I will probably change it again, this is not the only one I am looking at. Why did I sell my 98GT? I needed some $$$ at the time. Beauty of this hobby is, there is always another.

My concern would be is there enough for you to do to the first one to be content with it? Has most the goodies on it already

There is plenty left to do. Suspension, actual racing seats, power adder, trans, IRS, get rid of those junk headlights for some DEPO projectors and OEM amber corners, MGW shifter, AFS black machine face 18" Termi rims (with tires that fit right this time) etc... etc...

But I see what you are saying. I'm also looking at a few New Edges that are stone stock. A Competition Orange vert about a half hour from me looks really good but that dude never responded. There is also a bone stock Mystic Cobra with good paint for $8k...

Yeah most ppl say that. They are probably right too. I promised myself I would not do this and wait and get a Coyote but I keep thinking about a $500/mo payment plus another $100-$200/mo insurance and... yeah...

I'd LOVE to find a S197 for the $7-$9k price point in good shape but I'm not sure that's realistic. I've said I'd never get a 3V but the body style has really grown on me over the years and with all the cosmetic stuff out now they can look pretty badass. Especially the frowny 05-09 GT front with a CDC lip and a cowl hood.

Yeah he'd have to include the wheels/tires. Or at least a nice set of stockers.

Lol.
I was just parked next to a very nice Mystic Terminator a couple of hours ago.
I was going to take a picture but I thought to myself "Where will I post this? And WHY?"

It would have made you drool!

Mystic for $8k. This does look like one to offer $6500 for and go from there...

96 Cobra\Mystic

Buddy on FB told me "if you get the red one instead of that one you're retarded". Haha.

LSx swap and it's all good.

Honestly though ... that is a good looking car IMO and I don't really care for them.

Buy that and vortech the bish. Might have to swap out the cams ... not sure how those would do with FI.

Or .. come over to the darkside and get a Trans Am.

I missed out on buying a Mystic Terminator by one day, a while back.

They really are beautiful but the paint kind of scares me...
That ad says the car has some dings. I wonder how bad that they are?

I'd like a F body except I know how to work on the fox/SN95 with my eyes closed. I guess that's not a great excuse. IIRC the 270s are ok for a blower but not sure. I know that car would like nitrous tho.

Yeah I can go look at it tomorrow. Its an hour away. Worth a look for sure. Dings that could be pulled out with a paint safe dent remover would be one thing. If its got a bunch of peeling/scrapes/effed up body parts then no but it looks pretty clean.

There is a Nice white 95 cobra for sale here in Michigan on Craigslist. Around 50k miles, I don't remember exactly. Mostly stock IIRC. When I saw it today it screamed Scotty!

Yeah that's probably what I should be holding out for if I get a Cobra... we'll see. Problem now is I have time to think. That's never good for me.

I do the same thing. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't scour Craigslist and other classifieds looking for a deal I can handle right now. I Love new edges when done right and I've wanted for a long time. But I want to hold out for "more" but I may not be able to wait. I may end up with a new edge and my 96 in the garage come fall who knows. A coyote would be Nice but I to priced out the insurance, and it isn't pretty for a car that I would have a payment on and still have to have another car to drive with the family and in the winter months. It just doesn't make sense when I break it down that way.

White stock (dude just did a CAI and short shifter but w/e) 98GT vert cream puff.

1998 mustang gt

edit: This thing was a piece of crap... I mean it ran well but the whole interior/top was shot and there was a little too much rust going on.

Whatever one you decide to get just remember it's a Mustang and a hole inside if you that was empty will be filled once again. You can't lose!

This one would tick all the boxes too especially for someone with a flaky left knee...

2004 mach1 mustang 40th anniversary

Going to look Wednesday hopefully. Stone stock minus a dronemaster catback.

Looked at the white 98 vert today... lol, goes to show what a good camera angle can do. Body had was ok, interior and top needed almost a complete replace. Rims were pitted, dude was clueless but at least he was nice.

Yeah its stone stock minus a catback according to the owner and he says he is the 4th owner... but my 98GT was a 4 owner car and that thing was pristine. He said a cop owned it for the majority of its life and kept it garaged. It is currently DD'd but it is what it is. I'm jonesing to go look at it honestly.

What do you guys all think I should offer for that Mach btw? Its stock and if its in good shape... $6500? Dude is going to have a hell of a time selling an auto, I know I am an exception to that rule. And the mileage his very high but again, I like to consider myself an "enthusiast" who realizes that condition is way more important in this situation.

Yeah man all the time but like I said earlier... I know all about the Fox4 cars and I can work on them in my sleep pretty much. I'd have to learn a whole new platform and I hate the interiors of the F bodies but I guess its not much worse than the SN95's is.

I like that mystic cobra. But the Mach is nice also. I bet that guy would jump on 6500 cash though. Keep us posted man. I hope you can get one in your garage sooner than later

I know myself and I could not get a mystic. I'd be too worried about the paint. Something starts peeling on a regular car... paintscratch.com and DIY fix or get it painted somewhere if its that bad. Getting a Mystic even just a single part painted... its a process.

80% of the asking price so $6400.
I don't think that those miles are that high if the car was maintained and not beat on.
