Intermitent stalling at idle?

2001 Bullitt 4.6
Car runs fine most of the time,Sometimes at idle
it makes a sound like a foghorn( like the air is getting restricted}Then dies,,,
If I here this sound starting I throw a few revs it goes away and doesn't stall.
Any Ideas???
Thanks Tim

Lift the hood and watch your vac lines. One may be collapsing

This is simple.
Your Idle Air Control valve is worn out and the plunger inside is vibrating and making that noise.
I recommend replacing the IAC with a new Motorcraft part, or one manufactured by Hitachi.
Before you begin replacing it, disconnect the battery. That way when you are finished, you can reconnect the battery and the computer will relearn the new idle trim.

One of our members (cliffyk) used to refer to it as a "French horn" sound.

My car was doing the same thing as OP's car... Replacing the IAC did the trick!
