Door/Seatbelt Chime Malfunction?

My 03 GTMs door chime/bong works as it should when you leave the headlights on or put the key in the ignition, albeit with the door open. However, when I turn the key to the ON position (but without starting the car), the chime stops. Normally, it's supposed to chime a few times in succession (door open or closed) then go away.

What could be causing this? I want to get this fixed. Does it somehow have anything to do with the reverse lights? I know that's a stretch to think that but I don't know everything. The reverse lights don't come on when in reverse.

I think that your door chime is working properly.
On my 01, with the door open, the chime begins as soon as the key is in the ignition. it stops chiming when the key is turned to the on position.

Check the back-up lamp fuse in the passenger compartment ffuse box. It is a 15 amp fuse, and it is in location #11.

Now this is really making me scratch my head on how my door chime works. when i get back to my car after work today, ill let you know what happens. but yea, i do recall putting the key in, turning to the on position, and hearing like, 3 consecutive chimes, if the door is closed. weird.

Yeah, that's exactly what my old 04 did, and my old 97 for that matter lol

Mine does the 3 consecutive chimes when turning it to the on position. They are slower than the chime if it's just put in and the door is open.

Hmmm.
Just double checked and my chime stops completely once the key is turned to the on position.
