Bama tune

Holy Jebus, I just installed my 87 octane Bama tune and wow what a freaking difference. MUCH more responsive, and talk about a seat of the pants difference. I don't know how much power I actually picked up on the 87 tune but its a night and day difference in feeling. Anyway that's it, just wanted to put it out there.

Anyone know how much HP you pick up on a 2002 with Bama 87 performance tune with a CAI? I've looked around a bit but no one talks about the 87 tune. I plan to drive until the low fuel light and refill with 91 and put that tune on it then but for the interim I was curious.

Its going to be more throttle response than overall power. And it all depends on what other bolt ons you've done. CAI does next to nothing, the added performance is 99% from the tune.

Glad you are happy with it, but I would also HIGHLY recommend you get a wideband AF gauge. Canned tunes tend to run rich and you have no way of knowing if your AF is good or too lean/rich unless you've got a wideband. They're only $140 on Amazon these days and $20 for your exhaust shop to weld in the bung.

I'm looking forward to the 91 oct (California) tune. Been not filling my tank to drop the fuel to the low fuel light so I can refill with 91 'cause I don't trust octane boosters. I think the main change from the 87 tune is in behavior and throttle response. The 91 should actually add some power.

Octane booster is more snake oil. If you want high octane then go buy race gas. Or E85.

Torco does, tuners I've talked to say they worry about getting the ratio and a good mixture in the tank right tho...

I really wish I had an E85 station close by...

You are correct scotty. I used it for awhile b4 I went to e85. It's a pain and gets $$ every time you fill up though.

Yeah I imagine that would suck to have to worry about a mix every time you fill up. I have no idea why NJ doesn't have more E85... maybe because we have a bunch of refineries and are sandwiched between 5 real big ports so gas is stupid cheap without having to worry about it?

I mean there are always 2 drag strips relatively close buy to buy 110 from I guess. Or Methanol for mixing up my own RC airplane fuel lol.

Do you need to retrofit anything to run E85 or just get a tune and start pumping?
Its a legit question btw

I wouldn't say it's snake oil. But I personally wouldn't waste my time or money on it

I want to say that only the nos brand octane booster shows you a point system to knowing what octane you're at.

Cheaper brands don't say anything and therefore are pointless to use.

It's a lot of money just to boost your octane a couple of points for one tank lol

Its an 03 V6. I'm not going to bs and say i MAY do it cause I'm too broke to get a tuner but there is a gas station by my moms house that just put an E85 pump bit only see newer import cars use it. I wanted to pump some for ****s and giggles

You will need injectors and a tune at the least for your car.
May possibly need more for your car not a 100%
But injectors and a tune are for sure.

Why would you use 85 octane gas? Is there a benefit?

Rapinator, you going to explain this one, its not 85 Octane in fact it is much higher like 96 or 98 Octane maybe even higher depending on what formual you use to calculate the octane rating, its an ethanol based fuel

85% ethanol.

If you're going to run it, good idea to get an aftermarket fuel pump

e85 is ethanol not 85 octane gas. Try 110 octane
