Q for anyone with a BAMA tune

For those who have the Street/Performance/Race BAMA tunes and have settled on the Performance tune, what made you choose that one over the other two?

I like the street tune for daily driving, the race tune is really aggressive and the car feels jerky, like it wants to jump and it kinda gets annoying after a while.

Go hard or Go home...was my motto for my build list. Always pictured my Stang running mean and sounding nasty making her as aggressive as possible on the edge. borderline street legal.

The Race tune is the most aggressive so why go with anything less was my thinking. I wish bama would. Create me #3 race tunes instead of the other ones really...

The weird thing is, for me the Performance tune actually feels (or "feels") more aggressive than the Race tune, which is why I wanted to get some opinions. I dunno what's up!

Are you running the old tunes? If so the throttle response is probably better on the performance tune. Get the new v2 tunes and run the race tune and feel the difference lol

Oh, I didn't know the V2 tunes were offered for older 'Stangs!

I'm pretty partial to the race tune but that's just me. When I had my '01 Bullitt I honestly never changed out of it. The car felt sluggish running anything else (that's just me!) and I got very acclimated to it. Bama doesn't have V2's out just yet but they will be shortly and if you haven't had a datalog set up recently shoot Bama a call and they'll get you setup. Drop me a line if you have any other questions and I'm here to help.

I choose the 87 performance tune because it has a little more performance "which makes it more fun" without having to pay for the higher price octane....I didn't see the worth doing the 91 octane compared to the 87 performance for the price.

I just sent the chip back to get the speedometer adjusted for the 3.73s. I don't feel the need for the street tune. I was looking for performance tunes for 87, 91 and 94. I don't race, I just cruise and occasionally let her rip so I did not see the benefit of the race tunes. The 87P tunes would be there for the same reason as Kanas27. They sent the wrong tunes back though. I will send it in in the winter for the tunes I wanted.

If you drive super fast then the race is fine. Just cruising'? The performance should do.

Hey Rag - I'm sorry to hear about that. I know they've been at capacity recently as once the weather breaks everyone gets their cars out and heads out to the track. Between new orders, datalogging, and revisions every now and then a simple mistake will pop up. Please shoot me a PM with your order number and I'll work with you in private on this.

I want to get the car out there and use what's there for the time being. I will pull it out again in the fall before I put the car to bed. I will get in touch with you guys then. Thanks for the offer but the fall works better.

It would have been nice to have them this summer but they will fix. Not a big deal.

Problem with "simple mistakes" when it comes to a tune is that someone gets the wrong tune, doesn't know it and does a WOT pull and goes lean...

I know I sound like an *** and I know the bama tunes are fine for the bolt on guys but sending the wrong tune out to even one person is just something that really CAN'T occur... Not sure if AM/Bama has some sort of warranty where if the tune is the cause of the motor going kaput they'll cover it but I sure hope so.

That's another battle for another day. Going with a non-factory tune and with no way to monitor your A/F is not exactly a good idea.

Q for anyone with a BAMA tune

I have dyno sheet to prove you gain almost nothing with the race tune over the performance.. At least with exhaust and intake.Click image for larger version

I like the "performance" tune better. It's always been the most consistent and predictable of the 3 I get from Bama. I agree with GHO5T5NIPER, there is basically no differance in power beween the Pro and Race tunes. Honestly, if you get a good dyno tune with wideband, you'll run just one tune. I've thought about getting another tune that is just my Pro tune with the traction control disabled. I would just run that one as long as the track was open so I wouldn't forget to turn it off when I go to the track lol.

Ghost just to educate guys in here Bama doesn't list that one tune will yield more power than the other - from tune to tune the difference lie in where the power comes in throughout the curve and throttle sensitivity. Let me know if anyone has any other questions about this or drop me a line.

Yeah I understand that I was just expecting a little more of a curve. But yes with race tune there is a very noticeable gain in throttle response and the "2step" really helps when launching at the track. Not ragging on you guys just want to make sure people don't think there is a huge gain with the 2. Next time I want to try it with the stock tune and then the bama tune

Question for Alex

Hey this might be a dumb question, but what are the V2 tunes? I have a 2011 5.0 and a SCT Livewire TS with free tunes for life, do I need to do an update or what? Thanks for your help.
