I guess it's about that time. For those that followed my build on my 03 3.8. I'm starting round 2. This time with a soft top and a V8.
This time around I picked up a 2004 GT convertible. Interior was great and not a dent or ding in the body. Best of all it was very well maintained. Engine runs strong, and smooth as butter. But it can get better. Over the next several months I'm going to turn this into MY mustang.
So far I pulled off the bug deflector and stipes off the hood, scoop and trunk. Installed the Mach 1 grille delete kit and Mach 1 chin spoiler. New headlights should be here in the next day or two. Next step will be the O/R mac prochamber, and SLP Loudmouth exhaust. From there I'll get into the good stuff. Suspension and power!

Well if you do get the Cobra IRS, you will NEED to do a good bushing kit while its out to avoid wheel hop when you do a hard launch. The Full Tilt Boogie kit is far and away the best one out there.
And for all your side exhaust needs, hit up the Spintech website if you still might want to consider it at all.
IRS is probably your best bet tho. I still kick it around myself sometimes too. I'm sure I'll waffle between it and the 5 link like 20 times before I make a final decision.
Been very busy lately. Spend some time today cleaning and rearranging the garage. Trying to make room for the bikes, mustang and engine stand. Oh and my daughters mustang!

Still struggling to find free time to work on the bikes and mustangs. Between work and my wife's health issues it's not been easy.
I did get around to changing the diff fluid. Maybe a waste since I'm hoping to have time to get the gears done soon. But incase I didn't have time i figured I'd feel better knowing it had some fresh RP in it.
Oh yeah, take a look at the f'd up exhaust axle arch. I'm pissed they would do something like that. Looks as if the pipe had been twisted. The shop has done a lot of work for me on a lot of vehicles, so I plan ob getting it back down there soon and asking them what the hell they were thinking...

Alright, got the new calipers, ss lines, rotors and pads on today. Pedal feel is greatly improved and it frickin stops when you really step on the brakes. It's almost violent. Very happy with everything. Now hopefully I'll have another day off in the near future to install the Eibach Suspension kit.
Don't mind the dirty *** wheels, she'll get a good bath once the rain passes.

Thanks guys. The Duplicolor was easy. I masked the bits that I didn't want to get paint on (pistons, bleeder screw, etc) and did light several light coats, allowing about 15 minutes between each. Finished em off by hitting with the heat gun for a few minutes

Little update. Ordered an o/r h pipe and SCT X4 tuner last night. Springs, struts, shocks, X2 ball joints and all the other suspension goodies will be next.
I'll post a video for the exhaust as soon as I install it.

I loved the sound of the SLP Loudmouth 1's with the stock mid pipe. That being said, I installed the off road H today, and when I first started it I was happy. Then I drove it. At 2-3k it sounds like ***. Very loud ***. It was actually embarrassing. After looking around I'm thinking that the Flowmaster super 44's or the Borla stingers will give me the sound I want. I'm also looking at doing some hi flow cats in hopes that they may mellow it out a tad.
Side note, my SCT X4 arrives later today (being 1 am now and all). I'll need it for the cel from the new mid pipe, and to get things straightened out for the 4.10's going in. Not too excited about the Bama tune. Nothing MPT can't sort out for me.

Sitting at my exhaust shop having the SLP Loudmouths pulled out and welding up a set of Flowmaster original 40's.
With the Loudmouths and off road h, the exhaust had the most god awful tone at 2200 rpm. Yes it was loud, but it sounded like absolute garbage. I'll see how I like these. I think I'm going to ended up wasting just as much money with this Mustang as I did the last trying to find the sound I like most. If this doesn't do it I'm going to throw in the prochamber, the next step after that would be try swapping the 40's for borlas. We will see what happens.

OK so the 40's worked very well. Better tone, and now where near as loud. Now all I need to do is order my Kooks long tubes and call it good on the exhaust.

It was the Pypes off road H pipe for around 200 from American Muscle. It's nothing special but it's serves its purpose. It's still going to get replaced by a Mac Prochamber. I tend to waste money out of curiosity, this is one of those cases. Though admittedly that with the original Flowmaster 40's is a great sound. Mellow at idle and cruising but comes way up in volume at WOT. No trumpeting like the SLP's. Slp+no cats= straight a$$. Now the Loudmouths with the stock H pipe with cats sounds great too.

I agree with you on the SLPs i had them on for about a week, only drove it maybe twice and I got rid of them, recouped half my money on CL, haha. I had mine with a BBK off road X, it was awful, sounded like a jake brake, with a tin can full of marbles, occasionally popping and exploding inside. I got Magnaflow Magnapacks after that and their MUCH better. They have an actual deep tone to them and sound good while still being fairly loud. I think if doing an off road mid pipe with SLPs people should stick with the LM 2s, they actually have a tone to them and dont sound like your car has a nasty bout of diarrhea!! But a guy at work has a 96 GT like me and he has an off road H and Super 44 Flowmasters and it does sound awesome, I love it. Ive been thinking of going off road H on mine and keep my Magnaflows and see how l like that setup, and if not going with Super 44s. It has such a "classic" Mustang sound to that setup its hard to beat. Some will say they want to be different or have something different but I would rather have it sounding good and pleasurable even, if its played out or whatever.

As always the install is only made irritating because of the bolts in the header flange. I hit mine several times with pb blaster the night before. Other than that you may have to make a few tweaks after install to get rid of any exhaust leaks. But such is the game with a bolt together mid pipe. All in all about an hour from when the tires left the ground, and when they came back down for the last time.

I have the original 40's. They have just the right amount of volume. I was concerned that the super 40's or the delta 40 would have been too quite. Glad I went with my gut. I would've been disappointed in the super and deltas.
