Speaker Options, Need Some Help

I'm looking to buy a full sound system for my 2001 GT. I have an upgraded radio installed already so all I need is the speakers(sides) and a subwoofer in the back.

What's the best ones I can get that are good and cheap?

What sizes do I need to get as well?

Go with the Shelby GT/Kicker Speakers.

Mach or non Mach car?

Good and cheap do not go together when you are talking about speakers.

6x8 on the doors and the rear. With mach 460 good luck. You'll have to rewire.

You need 6x9s door and rear. I have kicker in mine, 3 way speakers (just cut the bass from your radio so you only use your mids and tweets) then your sub for all your bass. I'd look on eBay for kicker 6x9s, you can snag new ones for 60-80 a pair. An id go with a kicker L7 for your sub. I have 2 in a ported box and my front windshield flexs. I'd search craigslist for kicker L7s, you can find them used pretty cheap (ballpark $200) and their the best subs kicker make. They last long, RMS at around 750watts and peak at 1500 so you want atleast 1000watt amp if you only one, a name brand one. Either that or look up (blimed sundown audio sa 8 v2) they're 8" subs but they're one the best 8" subs made. My dad has 2 an it pounds, trust me.

6x8 is the correct size. If you shoehorn 6x9s in there they won't fit quite right and they'll eventually start to rattle.

Sorry, I meant 6x8. I had it backwards because my cousin just had me install his 6x9s. fords are basically the only ones that take 6x8s.

And Mazdas. Which are Fords... I still have a set of Pioneer Premier 6x8s in my garage but they're going in my Expy. I just need to get around to actually doing it and also wiring in my old headunit to said Expy.

My 2000 is a Mach car though. Going to properly wire in a HU unlike the previous owner had so there is no pop when it turns on and then run it as is for awhile. I will say the Mach speakers are not half bad with a good HU but nothing like even a mid level 3 way setup from a good brand.

Ya, not even close if you put money into a good system. I took my whole Mach system out, speakers, amps, head unit, all of it.

Yeah that is what I will be doing. Running thick gauge legit speaker wire from the HU to a good amp and then to the doors and tweeters. At least the Mach tweeter housings are easy to take apart and put your own stuff in. The way the speakers are positioned in the back... those might just stay 1 piece units without any separate tweeters. Also who the hell sits in the back?

ID:	185204 I just have a Sony, 40watt per channel amp that runs all my speakers an it sounds great. It looks like a jumbled mess but that's as neat as it will get. All the wires are hidden, what's there runs from HU to amps or amps to capacitor or capacitor to amp. But i just used 3 way speakers and cut the bass out completely so there's no rattle an it's clean mids and tweets.

I'll suggest looking at Crutchfield for info on sizes/reviews
