Driver Side Window Issues

My driver side window has stopped working, it won't go down. When I press the button I can hear something in the door click, but nothing else happens. Dead motor? I read some threads on google that said you could smack it with a hammer and it would start working again, and that they stop workin in high temp situations. Thought I'd get opinions.

Thanks.

It's a little cooler today and now it works. So it must be over heating. Is this something I should replace or just deal with it?

Mine does the same thing. You might not even have to take your door panel off either. Hold down the button while you bang on the door panel right above the cubbie hole and see if it works next time. If not, take the door panel off and tap or smack the motor and see if it works.

Could be a possible bad window motor .. I'd try the banging effort if it goes out again.. usually does the trick.

Brushes in the electric motor sticking

I don't know if those motors can be rebuilt, Probably not. I know the GM window motors can't.
What happens is the brushes start wearing down and stick and not make contact properly.
Just plan on replacing the motor. At least you have a warning before a complete failure occurs.
