Cobra vs Z06

Well fellas ..
I'm in the market for a 2003-04 Cobra or C5 Z06 ..
Iam approved for the z06 (2003)
Test drove it , and drove just like a world class sports car should ..
Final price is 22,000
80k miles , bone stock , silver.
Now I've found a white cobra for 16.5k , 6 hours away and a sonic blue here in town for 19.5 .. both fairly stock with around 80k miles ..
What would be a better car ?
I know the Z would be alot better from my understanding .. but parts seem so expensive !
Idk if a cobra would be alot easier to mod ..
Thoughts ?
This might be moved.

Cobra vs Z06

LS engine = almost limitless performance options
Personally, I'd take the Cobra. I love C5s but I never liked the fixed roof coupes.
The corvette is the better car.

Wow everybody is going the Corvette route lately... I picked up an 07 base and am glad I did. The big question is what is your plans for either car?

Personally I would go with the Z06 but that's just me.

I personally would go with the Z06 but that's just me. They respond amazing with a tune, and cam swap.

I am the worlds defender of the 3.7 V6 model.

I would go with the Vette as well although like someone else mentioned I would look and consider a C6 if your looking at a C5 for 22.

Between the C5Z and the Terminator I would personally go with the Terminator. It's not a Z but I've been around C5s a lot and would probably go with a base C6 before the C5Z

Also why not look for a coyote? You can get them with WAY less miles for your price range.

I was thinking of a 11-12 5.0 .. but I'd rather try to get the cobra or vette first ..
I don't want to be like everyone else and get the 5.0 if that's understandable.

The Mach 1 recently got totaled out , insurance is going to send a 2nd adjustor to look at it because we don't agree on how the first adjustor estimated things for the car.

Cobra vs Z06

Dare to be different. That's also why I didn't get a coyote. Which your two options are very good.
I'm sorry about your mach it looked like a really nice piece. Are you alright? No injuries?

Dare to be different but the Coyote is WAY better of a buy that the other options you listed and you can get one with 40-60k miles less than the 80k mile cars you are looking at for the same price plus they'll be 8-11 years newer.

I mean the kid in elementary school that ate glue was "different"... lol.

Or coyote swap a terminator, that'll be different or LS7 swap a Z06, that'll be different too.

I can't imagine anyone coyote swapping a Terminator... Might as well just go with a GT in that case to save a LOT of money. Maybe if the motor is blown I guess...

Honestly In That price range there are so many great cars you can buy I would look around test drive the ones your interested in and buy which one you like best.

Also a lot depends what you want to use the car with. The cobra can be made quick cheap because it's already forced induction but the other options are great as well.

Personally I'd look for a 6.1 Hemi Challenger or a Firehawk/WS6 in that price range. That's just me.

The Coyote will be quicker for the same money with a better platform and much nicer creature comforts and it'll still be NA.

The Challengers are turds if he is looking for a legit performer but they do look cool. The Firehawks are cool too but you don't really get anything except the name for the $$$. However a real clean low mileage F body (or 05/06 GTO) can be had in his price range and you don't get much better bang for the buck than a F body...

If u have access to usaa even through you parents or something their car service can locate your perfect car for rock bottom price. If not try a locator service. Cost u a few hundred but you will pay bottom dollar for the best ride

USAA car buying service is the ****. Navy Federal has one similar too. I've also found Navy Federal's auto loan rates blow USAA out of the water.

He was looking at a $22k car so he for damn sure has the funds for a low mileage 5.0 from 11/12. No idea why one would buy a car 10 years older with 60k more miles for the same price that's slower but I dunno, to each their own.

The Terminator is definitely iconic but... I hate that I think this now but IMO it is very overrated these days. Maybe not 12 years ago but even back then a cam only F body could keep up without much trouble.

Out of the two he was looking at the Z06 is easily the better buy but neither are even close to the value of the Coyote.

C5Z.

Then C5Z with cam, cai, full exhaust and tune. It will be faster than nearly all stock blower Cobras and still have 98% stock drive-ability with that lovely camm'd shake and sound.

Terminators are pretty overrated nowadays.

For almost same price you can get a NA 5.0 and still be faster with the modern touches. And man do does coyotes sound good.

For a newer vehicle that is a real nice driver with a ton of power and you can still get them for low miles in his price range there is always the 05/06 GTO with the LS2.

Being a "Holden" design, its not ****ty like most GM products.

Only downside to the gto is getting it to hook up properly, you can't fit a respectable tire under it without modifications

Also the fact it is extremely heavy. Has the power, but needs a diet big time.

Yeah but it's a lot of car for the money and I've always been amazed that a GM product from that time period could be we well built. Goddamn Australians lol.

I'd get one as an A4 vs a M6 tho with a big heavy car like that. Almost requires an aftermarket converter.

GTO or Firebird would've been my next choice after the 05-09 mustangs.

Eh, but the Firehawk/WS6 will lack the speed. They are very nice but I've got a 2001 GT and my buddy has a 2001 WS6. I've got a lot of mods and he has minor but he's still has more in his car (including price) that I do and my car outruns his every time.
